Ruined Daytona trip
My husband and I were looking forward to a couple of days in Daytona Beach and booked this property. The listing showed a two-story house prominently in the photo, and you could see of a portion of a building behind the house. There were no other exterior photos, and none of the actual apartment above the garage in the rear. The description was vague. Communication with the host was difficult, as many of my messages went unanswered. On the actual day of check-in I had still not received information with the code to access the property and called VRBO Customer Service for help. The host did not remember we were booked for that time, but VRBO confirmed our booking. Upon arriving at the property that afternoon, we were surprised at the actual condition of the exterior of the property. The stairs were run-down, leaning, and did not appear safe. Paint was cracked and peeling, mold was spotted on the bricks, and metal bars were on the windows. We noticed trash and beer cans strewn in the small yard. But we proceeded to attempt to use the app (did not grant access), and then the actual code. For over 20 minutes we tried to get the touch screen lock to accept the code, but nothing worked. My husband and I were increasingly concerned with all of the difficulties as well as the poor condition of the property. I tried to contact the host using the number provided, but could not leave a message due to the mailbox being full. We did not feel safe or secure and decided to leave. Beware!
