Todd, Thank you for your comments. I am glad to know that you appreciated the Comunication and the Cleanliness of Casa Big Sky. Let me address your concerns for others who may be reading this review. 2026 (April) was an exceptionally warm winter (the warmest in Big Sky's 50 year history) and the lower mountain did loose snow depriving us of the ski in ski out that is typically avaiable from mid December through mid April. The good news is that Big Sky remained open while other resorts were already closed due to the unusual warm winter and free liftside parking was available less than 2 minites drive away. I beleive our property description and cancellation terms (managed by VRBO) are clearly stated and accurate. You booked many months in advance and in requestiong a last minute cancellation / modification fell foul of the need to cancel or modiy a minimum of 15 days prior to check in to receive a full refund. I am sorry if you did not understand these and were unhappy with the 50% refund computed by VRBO outside the cancellation window.

I do agree floor novices driving to the lift makes sense ( though for advance skiers not. ) If you do decide to drive to the lift, its worth noting that the car park at Pony Express ( just a half mile away) , is usually empty and you can park just 20 steps from the lift.

Amy, I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit. While Big Sky is best renowned for it's skiing in the winter, it's often overlooked that it also a phenomenal area to visit in the summer. I am glad to hear that you were spoiled with the choice of things to do.

Hi Jim, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed Casa Big Sky. The bunk room is indeed connected to the living room, but is physically/visually separated from it even without the use of the optional curtain ( that provides privacy to the connected bathroom access). Please look at the floor plans in the photos to better understand this.

I should however point out for others who may be reading this review that while you did not use it, the ski out to White Otter lift and return (involving just 250 meters walk) is pretty convenient and how most guests choose to start their ski day.

Hi Kerry, Great to know you enjoyed the trip so much. I just got back to Big Sky today and found ( I have been pushing the resort to do this for a year) that the return home shortcut that I have been using for years has recently been widened and groomed making the ski home really much easier. I will be sure to show this option to you when you return.

Hi Dimity, I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Big Sky. I am sorry to hear of the problems that you had with the hot tub ... but I am pleased to say that after several failed attempts to stop this intermittent error ( and having now replaced all the pumps, heaters, flow sensors and lastly the main board ) all is now working just like new. The gas fire, which is not the primary heat source) is controlled by a thermostat. If left on for long periods, a cooling / circulation fan will start to prevent overheating. As you note, if you don't like the noise, just turning the thermostat down will resolve the problem. The bed noise was a fastening come loose and is now re-fastened. I am back in Big Sky next week and will look at that fridge noise in person, usually turning off the icemaker should resolve this issue.
