Welcome to Lakeside Cottage

The perfect getaway for two. This studio style cottage is stocked with all the necessities for a lovely vacation. The large screened in porch is perfect for morning coffees listening to the birds or even the waves of Lake Michigan. Walk inside and be greeted with the open floor plan. A little kitchenette stocked with items for an easy dinner (microwave only, no stove), and there is a grill outside the cottage. Up one step is the queen size bed, a couch, and tv. What more could you need?

THE LOCATION
The location can not get any better. Directly across the street is West Side County Park, which has a jungle gym for kids, public restrooms, picnic tables, grills, free parking, and lake access with a huge beach. This beach is known for rock hunting in the early spring. All of this while only being a short drive to Saugatuck and South Haven.

Cute Cottage

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. The beach was within walking distance and town was just a short drive. We would definitely stay again.

We had a relaxing stay at this studio type cottage. Easy access to Lake Michigan across the street and through the park. We especially enjoyed the spacious screened porch for reading. Perfect for a long weekend or week, limited only by the small kitchen and small shower/bath. Short drive to Douglas/Saugatuk restaurants and Grand Rapids attractions.

weekend getaway

This turned out to be a fantastic location for us--visits to Saugatuck Dunes state park, to Holland, and a nice neighborhood for a morning run. The cottage was charming and we loved the screen porch for evening relaxing time.

A quiet cozy cottage by the lake

My husband and I needed a getaway from reality and this place was perfect. We were able to shop, enjoy some great food and relax on the beach. (all minutes away) Westside County Park is awesome and I even found some sea glass. Loved our stay and would definitely stay again!

Quiet Cottage by the Lake

The best part about this cottage is it's central location. I loved being able to walk to Westside County park and go down to the beach. The cottage is also close to South Haven, Glenn, Fennville, and Saugatuck. There are lots of beaches, antique stores, and restaurants within I0-15 minutes by car. It's a great place to kick back and relax.

Very nice stay

Only a short distance to county park with Lake Michigan's beautiful sugar sand beach. A cute small cottage, nice and clean. Good size for 2 people. The owner was friendly and showed us inside. There is no stove, but has a grill and microwave. We enjoyed it.

Adorable cottage in a great neighborhood

This cottage is bright, clean and welcoming. The bed is super comfy with high quality bedding and pillows. We loved sitting on the porch with the cute lights both day and night. It's very close to a gorgeous beach. We loved everything about the Lakeside Cottage except the tiny shower, 4 cup coffeemaker, and the very narrow driveway. I was disappointed with the very cheap paper products so I would suggest bringing your own. We would gladly stay there again.

good porch

Spent most of the time on the nice screened in porch. Most people opt for a "cabin" rental for privacy, but there are several close neighbors. There is no clothes closet. Big drop off in floor separates the living area in half. Bed sinks in to the middle of matress. Must wait a while for water to get hot again after first person showers. Bathroom door hits toilet to enter. Kitchen facilities minimal at best. No place is perfect, but just want to be honest about shortcomings. Location is great - across from nice park and 1,000 steps down to beach.

Nice but tiny

The place is tiny with a big step up/down from the bedroom/livingroom space the I fell off of in the night. Wish it had been better equipped. 2 coffee pots but no coffee. Dishwasher detergent but no dishwasher. Laundry detergent but no washer/dryer. No kleenex. Hand soap was empty. Just stuff like that which required a trip to the store. But the location was great, the screened in porch wonderful, and it was cozy and cute.

Overpriced for amenities

Detractors: The kitchen was the equivalent of a hotel kitchen: undercounter dorm-sized fridge & tiny coffee maker. Not having any way to cook food was costly (to eat out so often) and disappointing; my fault for assuming there would be cookware and some way to actually cook food. The sagging bed was not comfortable for two people. Tiny shower was smaller than our trailer’s, hot water lasted for one shower at a time. Positives: Location and proximity to lake access was great, park & beach were lovely, especially on non-weekend days (weekends were very busy and populated but overall, folks were respectful). Location close to Douglas & Saugatuck was nice, though they were also crowded on the weekends. Anne at Jacqua realtors was great; very accessible and responsive to questions & concerns; she was a pleasure to work with! I would absolutely recommend Jacqua management.

The shower backed up after a 5 minute shower and took 40 minutes to drain. My husband could not then shower because we had to be somewhere by a certain time. There were ants in the bathroom, kitchen, and one crawled on me while I was sitting in a chair. Small ant bait traps would help. Bed seemed more like a full than a queen. The screened in porch was the best feature. There is a Keurig coffee maker which we didn't see in the picture so we had brought ours from home. The fridge is small but was adequate.

Hello There thank you for your feedback. However, we did reach out to you about getting our plumber out there asap to unclog the shower drain as well bring out ant traps and you never replied to us. Everything since you left has been taken care.

We enjoyed our stay! There were a couple things that we had not noticed in the listing that caught us by surprise - there is no kitchen, and the bathroom is very tiny. That was a minor hiccup- not a big deal. The location is great, and the cottage is clean and comfortable.

thank you Kate for your review. Yes, it does state in the description that it is a small studio (with no kitchen). The cottage is very popular in the summer due to its location (right across from Westside County Park) and between the towns of Saugatuck and South Haven. Thank you :)
