Over time, Ottawa became a place I kept returning to, especially because of the nearby parks, river views, and calm atmosphere. When I began my hosting journey, I knew I wanted to create a relaxing retreat somewhere that felt grounded in nature and away from the rush of bigger cities.

Being close to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Park makes this location especially special for guests who enjoy hiking, exploring, and reconnecting with nature.

The name “Hozho” represents peace, balance, and harmony with nature — which reflects the feeling I hoped to create throughout the home.

One of my favorite memories was watching deer peacefully rest in the backyard before the privacy fence was installed. Moments like that reminded me exactly why this place feels so special, and I hope guests feel that same sense of calm during their stay.
