Fine for a few days
My husband and I decided a few weeks before to get out of LA for the 4th to avoid the fireworks, so it was understandable that the inventory of rentals was somewhat limited, especially for dog friendly spots. In photos, this house seemed pretty ideal - fully fenced, nicely designed, comfortable furnishings and centrally located. My concerns started 2 weeks before check in when I reached out to the host to request an earlier check in and didn’t ever get a response, despite reaching out 3 separate times. Beyond that, upon arrival, it seemed that the house had not been particularly well maintained and wasn't entirely accurate in its representation in the listing. The two sofa’s in the house were both broken, some of the outdoor furniture was heavily dilapidated, and one of the stakes holding up string lights in the outdoor dining area had fallen down. The property is fully fenced though we did notice one small opening that a small dog could definitely escape through as well as quite a bit of trash that had accumulated in the corners of the fence line. Additionally, the property is pretty close to neighbors on all sides with clear visibility, so it’s not the most private property. The bed was comfortable, AC was strong and the cowboy pool and hammocks made for a restful few days, despite some of the issues. The house is also very proximal to the main stretch of Joshua Tree, so that was convenient.
