Smokey - Gorgeous cabin right on the Elk River

Smokey is an open-concept cabin that sleeps 6 adults and 2 kids comfortably. Smokey has a wood-burning stove and a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, satellite TV, and Wi-Fi. Downstairs are a double bed and a twin. The loft contains 2 Queen beds. The living room has a sleeper sofa. Pets are welcome Fishing is a short walk out the back door as Smoky sits near the river. The cabin lets you enjoy hiking, tennis courts, snowmobiles, rafting, tubing, and other outdoor activities. You can also watch the kids play on the playground from the patio, looking over the beautiful Colorado mountains.

I usually am very low maintenance when it comes to accommodations, but I want to leave a review for future guests to be aware of - both good and bad. I had inadvertently booked a weekend in the winter which I was called in to work on short notice and was unable to cancel the reservation and Toni worked with me to transition my reservation to a different cabin for a different weekend in the fall at no additional charge, which was absolutely wonderful. However, the booking did not get updated, so in reviewing the pictures of the accomodations and planning for our friends to come with us/sleeping arrangements, this was shocking when we got there. We made it work but it was deceiving by the pictures and how we consequently planned. When we arrived, it was dark and raining and although our code worked, there were no keys in the lockbox to get in. After 2 phone calls to the hosts and 2 written messages on the app without reply, we decided to try the emergency number, which wasn't answered and then by a stroke of luck, found a nice man closing the tavern (this was about 10pm) who called and had an external person (not the VRBO host/cabin owner) come from 15 min away to let us in. We finally got in and the accommodations were much smaller than anticipated (due to the incorrect cabin pictures). Multiple messages throughout the weekend went unanswered. The host did eventually call me to discuss 1 day into our stay and was kind and briefly apologized. Overall, not a comfortable stay.

Cupboard doors don’t stay shut. Of course there were mice caught in our cabin every day. All of the staff were great and accommodating. I would recommend only by letting someone know of our so so experience.

We have absolutely loved coming and look forward to to each year! It’s our kids favorite vacation and so fun to spend time with family at Glen Eden!But I have to say that your prices have increased substantially which is disheartening. But with the increase of pricing, where is the increase in amenities and upgrades? The pool has been the same for 30 years, sometimes the heater works and sometimes it doesn’t, same with the hot tub (doesn’t always work), tennis court are old and cracked, some cabin need some serious upgrades, the restaurant hasn’t been open the past 2 years. Also, we are not happy with your new “ tiered” pricing, summer rates along with summer weekend rates is ridiculous! We are already paying the summer rate and then on top of that we have to pay more for a weekend?? We love your resort and hope our kids will continue this tradition with their own children, but with this last price increase, not sure it will be an option.Just wanted you to know that you are raising prices but not amenities and it is pricing out local Coloradans from visiting your resort which is a shame!We love it here, but not sure how long our family will be able to pay these prices. But thank you for giving us years of wonderful family memories!!

Cute cabin with a beautiful river view

The cabin was cozy and the property was great. For the cost of the per night, however, i would expect the cabin to be nicer. The bathrooms are basic and the stairs to the upstairs are really steep if you have kids, be aware.
