Outdoor lover’s paradise. Explore and stay in a newly-renovated riverside cottage located in New River Gorge National Park & Preserve. (3 miles from Sandstone falls) The cottage offers a full size bed, large sectional sofa, Kitchenette w/ mini fridge, Keurig, microwave & BBQ.

The space
The property includes your own cottage at the end of a quite road in a humble riverside community. The cottage has one immediate neighbor that shares river access. The far-end of the property leads in NPS land, which is open to the public for about the next 6 miles. It is all open for you to explore. We have a trail leading down to the rapids down river.
Guest access
The yard is shared with another house (that we own as well). Feel free to use any and all river access and all of the fire-pits on property (3 total). Down-river is all NPS land and is open to the public, we have a trail extending to the falls below, and beyond. Thanks, enjoy!
Other things to note
The cottage is located next to a railroad track. Feel free to use the fire pit between the two houses and any of the river access from the fence down. Down river, there is a private trail that leads to a fire pit and rock beach. Beyond that is national park and preserve and is yours to access. To observe federal law, and keep the natural beauty, the banks of the river are uncut and all-natural. Thanks for the stay!

The cottage was beautiful and clean with easy access to the river. This is the perfect getaway spot for a couple that enjoys the outdoors. John was easy to communicate with and worked us into his schedule for a last mintue guided fishing trip.

GREAT SPOT ON THE RIVER

Beautiful scenery right outside your door, right on the river. Had a wonderful time and the cottage had everything we needed. Would love to stay here again.

Beautiful River Location

The cabin is rustic as you’d expect with a train track close by. Sleep with white noise to help with train traffic. Sitting on the deck overlooking the river was magical! Bed was comfortable.

Great location

The rental was clean and adequately appointed as far as appliances and towels/sheets/necessaries. The host, John is a super cool guy who has a rafting and fishing business that I plan to use next time I am in the area. No complaints, great stay!

Everything was great besides the shower. We either had to take a cold shower or a hot shower there wasn’t an in between temp. Everything was clean and great otherwise!

Great place on the water

John is a great host and this is a great place. I was super thankful for how comfortable the bed and couch ere - felt very 'at home'. If you are a light sleeper, the proximity to the train tracks may cause you some grief.

beautiful location, cozy house

We were just looking for a place to stay overnight and did not want to get a hotel, so we did not need much. The location was lovely, accomodations were fine. Did not need a full kitchen so what was available was fine. Would stay here again!

Nice place to stay

Cabin was perfect for us. It was clean and well stocked. John was wonderful and quickly responded when needed. I needed a propane tank for the grill and when I called him I got the tank within 15 minutes. The river and views were just amazing and we caught fish everyday. The only negative was there is way too much tree and plant growth in front of cabin limiting view from inside the cabin and access to the river. And then there is the train but the cost made up for that. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would stay there again.

Great stay

Couldnt get shower to mix hot and cold. It was either very hot or very cold. Bedroom shade fell down. I think tv remote is out of batteries. Otherwise, everything was great.

The "accuracy of this property" was not accurate because it was way more beautiful than the pictures I saw beforehand. The train roaring by a few times in the night...I thought I'd be upset by it. But the awesome late checkout, so chill welcoming feeling, meeting very cool John (host) and the incredible view made me not even remember it. I was only upset that I couldn't book more nights. :)

2 Night Stay

The cabin was clean and had a gorgeous view of the river! The scent of the cabin was strong for my taste (woody? Candles? Not sure). There is not much to do in nearby areas but my goal was to stay near new river gorge park not to be in a place with lots to do, so this was perfect! Only downside is proximity to the train tracks. Train is very loud as it passes, but I would stay there again! I ran into the host’s son walking his dog as I was leaving because he lives nearby and he was so kind and checked in about how the stay was!

Nice stop on our short trip to New River Gorge NP. Wish we had more time to enjoy the beautiful river right outside the home. Comfortable stop on our visit to West Virginia.
