Cancelled on us when we arrived to check in

We booked a long weekend here to see the solar eclipse on our way home from spring break. After a long day of travel, we left the airport, stopped to get groceries, then realized that despite having two emails, one that said "all set for your trip to Dallas," and one that said "here are the keys to your trip," we didn't have key code information. I contact the host, who then responds and says they're canceling and refunding us. We could have checked in at 4pm that afternoon. It's now after 9. We have a car full of groceries, 2 sleepy children and no place to stay in Dallas on the weekend of the solar eclipse. Why didn't they let us know earlier??? The host refuses to answer calls. They did refund our money immediately, but that didn't help us find a new place to stay. Also, if this happens to you. Don't bother trying to get VRBO to help. If you're refunded, immediately look on your own for new lodging. I wasted three hours on help the first night and at least two the next day and despite being told rebooking would help no one ever reached out to us. Hope this never happens to you! We've never had a bad VRBO experience until now.

Nice but vital descriptions details were left off.

The listing states it sleeps four, however there is only one bed that was set up. There was another box spring, mattress and what appeared to be a disassembled bed frame stored in the closet. It was too large to be able to remove from the closet and set up. Therefore, as is, it only sleeps two and possibly a third on the couch. There were extra sheets and multiple extra pillows(big plus on having those) that allowed for the couch to be covered for sleeping. The area is a downtown city area so there is city noise, streets aren’t always the cleanest, and the smells are that of a city. My family and I never encountered anything that put our security at risk, but we made sure we were aware at all times. The host was very responsive and answered all questions quickly.
