Welcome to Lucky Elk Ranch — a peaceful, luxury mountain retreat nestled on 35 acres out in the country under big, dark skies just 20 minutes from Old Town Durango and 7 minutes from the airport. Whether you're gathering with family, planning a wellness or corporate retreat, hosting a micro-wedding or event (up to 50 guests – additional event fees apply) or simply seeking quiet, restorative time in the country, this is your place.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be surrounded by sweeping 180-degree views of the San Juan Mountains. The only sounds you’ll hear are birdsong, breeze and maybe even the occasional elk passing through.
It’s a sanctuary of serenity—far from the noise and chaos of big city distractions.
The Main Ranch House sleeps up to 9 guests across 4 bedrooms and 5 beds, blending rustic charm with modern comfort. The heart of the home is the sprawling, fully appointed kitchen with literally everything even the most discerning cook could ever need. The adjoining dining space seats up to 14 and is perfect for group meals and long, laughter-filled evenings.
FRESH EGGS! A feature all of our guests love is the custom chicken coup located in the pasture next to the main house and the resident hens that supply you with farm-fresh, organic, free-range eggs for the duration of your stay! Just let us know and we'll make sure you're well supplied. If you have kiddos in your party, we can make arrangements for them to gather eggs if they'd like.
You’ll love how the ranch house is laid out so that you have great communal gathering spaces yet plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of each other. The huge communal kitchen and dining spaces are perfectly balanced with nooks and spaces like separate living rooms on each end of the home on the main floor, the library, the cozy TV space on the 2nd floor and the two hideaway kid's lofts above the two central bedrooms give everyone plenty of space to hang together or take some time alone as you need.
Children are welcome at Lucky Elk and we have done our best to be kid-friendly. That said, it's important for parents to note that the ranch is NOT 'childproofed' and younger children will need to be supervised at all times to ensure safety. A Pack N Play is available upon request.
Step outside to enjoy multiple outdoor lounge areas, including a large dining table for 6, a hammock for afternoon naps, and a luxurious 7-person hot tub with stunning mountain views by day and dark sky stargazing by night. The huge fully fenced backyard offers tons of room for yard games and is ideal for pets and safe for kids to roam freely.
Need space for a larger group or added privacy?
You have the option to add The Falcon’s Nest—a newly renovated, 600+ sq ft studio suite located above the huge attached garage. This private retreat features a King bed, Queen futon, full gourmet kitchen, and its own bathroom. It sleeps up to 4 and is never rented to separate guests, ensuring your group’s complete privacy.
The Falcon’s Nest connects seamlessly to the Main House and is perfect for grandparents, couples, or anyone wanting a quiet space of their own. Rates range from $250–$350/night depending on the season. If you'd like to include it in your stay, just mention it when booking and we’ll send you a custom quote.
