If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation, Country Comfort is the place for you! Bring your canoe or kayaks to explore our near by lakes and ponds, access to the Atlantic ocean is just two miles away. Check out BHHT trails for near by hiking. The entrance to Acadia National Park is an easy 30 minute drive. At the end of the day, come back "home" and relax while enjoying beautiful sunsets and the amazing star lit sky.

Beautiful dwelling in an authentic but comfortable rural setting near hiking, beach and restaurants. We had a blast in the area during the day and relaxed at the VRBO at night. The house had everything we needed and the hosts responded quickly to our questions, a very personable and knowledgeable couple. The nearby Surry Store and other restaurants were a bit pricey so beware. (but kind of expected in a vacation region).

Upon arrival, the house was very clean, and stocked with most of the essentials for our stay. The location was close enough to travel to Acadia national Park, without being in the mix of congestion and traffic for tourist attractions. There were grocery stores, coffee, shops, and Walmart with a reasonable distance to pick up anything that we needed. The host, kindly provided games, books, an access to TV platforms for rainy days, and time spent in the home. My only complaint would be that the bed was very soft. As people with back issues, we woke up throughout the night and in the morning, in pain on a daily basis. I understand the thoughtfulness of providing a thick mattress topper, however, a firm mattress would’ve been more to our liking. Overall, we had a nice stay and enjoyed our time in Maine.

Hi Jessica, sorry to hear you weren't comfortable in the bed. We have had a lot of people tell us it was the best sleep they ever had but no complaints. There were 2 other beds you could have tried. The futon on the first floor or the twin bed on the second floor, they both have firm mattresses.

We stayed at John and Yvonne's homey house in August 2026 and it was a great experience. The house was scrupulously clean and well-appointed and considerate--we had everything we needed. I always love a property that has "extras" and this house had them: extra towels, extra blankets and pillows, ice packs in the freezer, beach towels, board games, an umbrella, and even feminine hygiene products in case of an emergency. They really are thoughtful hosts. The only thing missing was air conditioning: we visited during a very hot and humid weekend and the house got very warm during the day. It was my fault for not reading the description carefully, but if you need AC perhaps look at another property. There were plenty of fans and the house did cool off in the evening with the windows open (there are good screens on the windows). It was less than an hour drive to Acadia National Park, and the property and neighborhood are quiet and secluded. It felt like I was staying at my grandparents' house, down to the light-house themed wallpaper and tile in the bathroom. Check them out!
