Jeff was a lovely guest. Thoughtful questions, quick responses and he was so kind to my longtime housekeeper who is not in good health, when she was there for a tidying up during the long stay. Would very much enjoying hosting Jeff again! Super nice fellow and very easy keeper!

Jim- Good afternoon. I was very sorry to read your review that resulted in a temporary hold on my account. I did my best to accommodate your requests and offered to refund your money prior to your trip when you were not feeling that the cottage would be a good fit for you and your guest due to lack of tech. That said, I agree that the stay could have went smoother. There was a missing lid to a skillet, which was apparent at nearly 8pm at night, about the same time that you requested that I send someone over to take the small flat screen out of a room upstairs and set it up in a room downstairs, that you preferred. In nine years of hosting, I have never had a guest request this but was happy to oblige. But please understand that this is not considered an emergency, and my helper is not on 24/7 call for non emergencies. He would however be there the following morning, before noon, with a new skillet (with a lid) and to move the tv for you. Stating that the tv was not set up is simply not true. It was not in the place you preferred it, which is not the same thing at all. When we talked over the phone, your guest cited being "up in years and not feeling comfortable" moving a small flat screen down the stairs. I'm glad that you did not attempt this if it seemed unsafe. The cottage was built in the late 1800's and the listing details/amenities state that the cottage is not good for folks with mobility issues and there are stairs. Please take this into consideration on future trips. Old cottages are quirky and not ADA compliant like a hotel. I do my best to accommodate guests but the cottage is simply not a good fit for every traveler. The range was not boiling a large lobster pot of water in a reasonable amount of time. I understand and had another guest ask about this years ago, which is why I purchased and had for you a plug in two burner countertop heat source. You said that you didn't see it, yet my helper saw it in a cabinet the following morning. It was where it was supposed to be. I appreciate the opportunity to host you but your review does not accurately state how long you waited for a response or the fact that you were asking for help after hours and that help arrived the next morning, as soon as possible. I treat my helpers like family and they have been with me since 2016. Please understand that they have families and moving a tv at 8pm is simply not an emergency. I do want to thank you for taking the smoke detector battery out when it started tweeting. I had that replaced and apologize that the battery died during your stay. I will be more diligent in the future about replacing it routinely to keep this from being an issue with future guests. Please accept my apology for the inconvenience. Thank you again for staying at my cottage and I wish you both many wonderful trips in the future, hopefully in Maine!

Katie- Thank you for your review! I'm sorry that it was storming and very wet out for most of your stay. That weather was very unusual for that region and in the seven years that I have owned the cottage, I have not had guests experience such humidity or amounts of rain. I am glad that your kids had fun and that you were able to make it home for the week you were in the region. Very glad you made the cobbler and I hope that the time away was time to reconnect and unplug. If you would like to come back, please message me and I will offer you a reduced rate given your experience last week was not ideal due to weather. Julia- Thank you for your review and I'm glad you got to see Maine! The cottage is indeed original to the area and I do mention this in the description. The floors are new, but are not perfectly straight. I do mention in my description that guests with mobility concerns might be better suited elsewhere. Internet and cell service for guest who come from other regions/countries also often have challenges making calls. There is one cell tower for the entire DownEast Maine region and larger nationwide carriers work best. That said, I'm so glad that you all enjoyed the feel of the cottage and had a good time seeing Maine! It is a very rural, rustic area. No hotels. So, it is a little surprising at times for travelers new to the area. I've had guests from as far away as Beijing and Mexico City, and unplugging can be a little strange at first! I do my best to help my guests feel submerged in the area, and have an authentic experience. I hope that your family took back many happy memories and will see more of the East Coast, USA, in the future! Kindly- Jen
