Grandma's vintage (1912) cottage is back for 2026! Post-hurricane restorations include a completely rebuilt and expanded deck at water's edge, along with new, leveled floors and reconfigured living/dining room overlooking the harbor. This spot is "quiet side" at its best! Gorgeous sunsets! Steps from the gravelly private beach, and minutes from Acadia National Park, including Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse (since 1858), less than 2 miles away. This quaint 'camp' has everything, at close quarters, overlooking the working Maine lobster community at the scenic southwest corner of Mount Desert Island. MDI is of course home to Acadia National Park where trails, hikes, kayaking, mountains and more abound.
Comfy, cozy Adorable Cottage offers a combo living/dining room, two bedrooms with double beds, 3/4 bath (w/ shower, no tub), fully equipped kitchen, clean towels & linens, plus a 'bonus' bed in the attic (served by an interior ladder) for an adventuresome tween or teen (no toddlers!). Plus:
- Free on-site parking
- Gas grill on the new deck
- Expansive back yard
- Beachfront seating with Solo stove
- Restaurants, Museums, Library and Scenic Tours in town and nearby
- Several indoor +/or outdoor Fresh Lobster sites
- Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse 1.7 mi
- Ship Harbor walking/hiking trail 1.8 mi
- Wonderland Trail 2.1 mi
- National Park Canoe & Kayak Rental 11.2 mi (17 min)
- Acadia National Park Hulls Cove Visitor Center 16.4 mi (29 min)
The whole darling cottage + deck are yours.
The back yard and beach may be shared with guests (or us) in the (larger) house up the hill from the cottage, but the cottage and deck are nicely private for your stay.
We are available by phone, if not in person, 24/7, and are ready to help you solve any question or issue that might arise.
Our preference is for Friday to Friday reservations, due to the availability schedules for cleaning & restaging professionals. (7-day rentals get a nice discount!) That said, choose the days that work best for you and we will make every effort to accommodate. You are going to love this cottage. We look forward to meeting you (or not!); come on over.
