Spotless, spacious & joyful place with backyard, garden & meditation/yoga space

Oh wow! We are stunned that Martin gave us a 3 star review?! We feel it is completely unfair and here is why: Guests arrived during an extreme heat wave in Portland and even though we asked not to overload air conditioning they proceeded to set it to 65 degrees in a 112 degrees weather. The house stays cool easily if you just set it at 70 and run ceiling fans that are located in every room. Then when the air conditioner went out, instead of reporting the problem right away, guests waited more 24 hours to do so. Why? I am not sure where that logic and wisdom came from because it basically took away an opportunity for us to fix it right away. Here is the part that kind people would appreciate but not these guests: after they reported the problem, we responded within 5 minutes with solutions. We brought in a portable unit, Vlad located and ordered a broken part with overnight shipping to fix air conditioning. Based on the review, guest obviously oblivious to the fact that HVAC services in Portland had been backed up with requests and we would have had to wait for over a week to get their help. Yet, Vlad was able to fix air conditioning in less than 24 hours. I consider it a miracle and very grateful for that! We are new to this site but we have a consistent 5 Star rating on other sites with hundreds of happy and satisfied people staying with us. And here is the reason why: our property is extremely well maintained, spotless when it comes to cleaning (something that Martin and his partner disregarded by wearing shoes all over the house, even though we asked to please remove your shoes) , comes with extra amenities and offers a serene, restful, joyful experience! We are proud of it and Vlad and I are very caring hosts! Vlad and I look forward to hosting more grateful and positive people in the future!

Sam was one of those experiences you don't wish to have as a host! We are listed on different rental platforms and have hundreds of glorious 5-STAR reviews and genuinely kind and sweet people stay with. Vlad and I consider it is a God's blessings because we get to host honest, pleasant and caring people and we always show our gratitude for that. Sam happens to be an exception to that statistic. We just feel sorry for him to go through life feeling entitled to have everything free, even though it affects hard working people's livelihood. We got woken up in the middle of the night by a message he left on the answering machine that sounded incoherent: "I hope you sleeping good, because I am not" , words were slurred, so I immediately texted back via VRBO message and tried to get an idea what was happening? I also reached to tenant in the basement (a sweet girl that works nights who said she was microwaving a hot pocket because she just came back from work and she heard loud stomping upstairs). The whole event took 5 minutes from start to finish. I still had no description exactly what was Sam hearing and was he hearing anything at all and might of dreamt of something? In the morning when I came in to clean, the house was full of dog hair and every complimentary amenities were taken as well as based on the number if dishes, wine bottles guests enjoyed dinner and lunch so I thought this would be a "happily ever after " moment, but to my surprise Sam texted :"refund us a full amount of stay and let's forget about it" ...Hugh? Then after he did not get a full refund he tried to settle for 50%. Really? Is this how life revolves around Sam? We have not done anything wrong. Listing states clearly about tenant. Tenant was a hard working noise-free girl. There are cameras on the outside of the house only and it is listed in the description. No parking in the garage, which we even remind in the welcome message-yet not only they parked in the garage but also used a latch they are not supposed to touch which bent the garage door. Waking us up in the middle of the night , yet have no noise or description of it? We reported Sam to VRBO and other VRBO hosts. I hope it's a good life lesson to Sam that you should not try to take advantage of people or services and focus more on spreading joy and partake in helping others. 😊
