My husband and I stayed for the whole month of October at this home. It is an older home but overall it was perfect for us. The living room TV had something messing up with it and Vanessa brought a new tv to replace it. The king size master bed was very comfortable. We grilled out a lot and did an evening fire in the fire pit several nights. The home is in a great location on the west end so it is on the quiet end of the island. ( which we liked). The home had everything we needed. We loved watching the sunrise every morning on the screened in porch.

Great Location

The house is a short 5 minute drive to the beach which was perfect for the kids. House was fairly clean (not as clean as the photos present). Outdoor shower didn’t work. Floor transition in the hallway is missing so there was a lot of tripping over the floor. The deck outside had several loose boards. The back yard is fenced in which is nice if you’re bringing your dog. Just beware there are LOTS of ant hills which made for itchy ankles after playtime. Beds were comfortable. There were all the toiletries and kitchenware we needed. Overall, we had a decent stay, but likely wouldn’t book again.

Cozy Beach Cottage

This listing should have an additional word added to the description-rustic. As someone that spent 30 years in interior construction, the efforts to “modernize” this listing left a lot to be desired. Additionally, there was a serious lack of kitchen utensils and the two frying pans on site had baked-on grease from lack of “elbow grease” being applied after use. While my brother and I made out okay, we both agreed that had our wives accompanied us we would have had to make hotel arrangements rather than stay there.Having said all that, for the price I guess we can’t complain too much.

Family of 5 Vacation

My family stayed here for a week and we were so happy with the property. The fenced in back yard was a must for us since we have a 6 and 3 year old who love to play. The screened front por h was relaxing at night to sit and enjoy the crickets and breeze without being eaten alive by mosquitos.The house was clean upon entry and check in process was super easy. The kitchen area is small and hard to cook in if you are used to a bigger kitchen with more counter space but it is doable. Vanessa was quick to respond to any questions we had and an awesome host. We left something at the propery after check out and she was super helpful with getting it back to us with no hesitstions. The neighboorhood is quiet and nice especially if you want a relaxing time. We would definitely stay here again if we visit oak island.

BEWARE!!!!

If you enjoy sleeping on stained sheets covered in dog hair, look no further! Hair all over the rug in the bedroom. This place was a nightmare! Contacting the host was awful. Communicating only through Vrbo inbox, she wanted the photos to prove the hair, I wanted to send but could not do so through Vrbo inbox and she refused to give her contact number so I could text. This was a disappointment and a huge inconvenient disaster!! Never had such a terrible experience renting through Vrbo or air b and b. But first time for everything. Praying it is the last experience like that!
