The Neighborhood:
It's the perfect location. 2 blocks from Union Ave and Overton square, which is the busiest and most hoppin' part of town and has every thing you could imagine. A mile from Cooper-Young area which a very trendy and poppin' neighborhood. 10 minutes from Beale St, FedEx forum, and downtown, and 5 minutes to the liberty bowl. Having said all that, it's a very quiet, nice and safe neighborhood.
The street this house is on is a part of Idlewild Historic District. The 18 city blocks of Idlewild Historic District contain numerous types of residences from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This district featured a wide variety of house types, architectural styles and construction materials.
Located right in between Overton Square and Cooper Young, and a short 7 minute drive from Downtown Memphis, this neighborhood is extremely convenient to get around from, and it has tons of character and history.
Getting Around:
Uber/Lyft or a car is the best way. Public transportation is unreliable unfortunately. Neighborhood is walkable.
Other Things to Note:
This home is a half a block from a train track. This is extremely common in Memphis as we have multiple industrial railroads that run right through town. Luckily, this particular spot is right before an unloading point for the trains so they are always going quite slow. You may hear the horn, but that is literally everywhere in the city limits.
Also, Fedex is headquartered just 5 miles down the road and planes can be heard going over head every few minutes at specific 20-30 minute periods at specific times during the day or night. It is common almost anywhere in Memphis to hear and see the parade of planes coming through. It is all part of Memphis' sounds and charm.
