Senator Lapham House offers a distinctive stay near downtown Canandaigua, combining historic character with updated comfort. This three-bedroom residence is part of a multifamily property with ties to Susan B. Anthony’s family and provides a convenient base for exploring Canandaigua Lake and the Finger Lakes.



The open-concept kitchen is equipped with a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster oven, wine glasses, and essential cookware. A comfortable living area and in-home laundry facilities make the space well suited for both short visits and extended stays.

Great house in great location

We rented the house for a wedding at the lake. The house was very convenient to the lake and to town. Super cool breweries right around the corner. The house had everything we needed.

The home is a lovely historic building in a great location. Walking distance from town. We enjoyed sitting outside by the gas firepit listening to live music next door (which ended at 7pm the night we were there). The unit is managed by a rental company who does not seem to know the property. At the time I booked, the property listing did not clearly state it was 1.5 baths so before I booked, I messaged the host to ask. I was assured the property had 2 full baths. I noticed a review stating there was only one shower (after I booked), so I asked again and was assured the property had 2 full baths. Then I was told no, that was a mistake. The property has 1 full bath upstairs with the bedrooms and one small 1/2 bath off the kitchen downstairs. I was also asked to load the dishwasher before we left the property, there is no dishwasher. The property is clean but it is an old home so there are some water stains, carpet stains, dead bugs on the trim above the living room entry you can see from the stairs, but nothing bad and the kitchen, baths and bedrooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable with the exception of the one room across from the bath which was a little saggy. Some things to know. Each guest (6) are given one bath towel and one washcloth so if you want your own hand towel bring one. There are shared hand towels in the bathrooms and there are kitchen towels. We were also told to take the garbage cans to the curb on Mon eve or be charged 50.

We also appreciate your kind comments regarding the cleanliness of the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms. We would like to clarify a few points. The number of bathrooms was incorrectly updated in our system, which displayed the property as having two full bathrooms. We corrected this as soon as the error was identified. We sincerely apologize for the confusion this caused, especially since you reached out prior to your stay. Regarding the towels, the listing clearly outlines what is provided, including the number of towels per guest, so guests have the opportunity to review this information before booking. As for the dishwasher, our checkout instructions are standardized across our properties. If a property does not have a dishwasher, there is obviously nothing for guests to load, and there would be no expectation to do so. Lastly, we want to clarify that nobody told you that you would be charged $50 if the trash was not removed. Our checkout instructions do ask guests to take the trash to the cans, but there was no $50 charge communicated to you for failing to do so.

The house is beautiful and clean. We had all the information we needed about the house a few days before our weekend. There is so much to do in walking distance from the house.

Very nice and close to everything

We only ended up staying one night out of the 2 we had rented. My daughter had her wedding reception close by so it was an easy walk (stumble) after and went out to breakfast in the morning. Rental was very nice and as shown in the pictures. We did not cook so could not review the kitchen. The King bed was a bit high for me and I needed help getting up! It was comfortable and had a good nights sleep. Perhaps a stool would be of help. Overall it was a good place and I would reserve again.

The location is GREAT - walkable to shops, restaurants, and breweries. The house has been renovated and was lovely. The living room and kitchen were large and comfy. There are a few board games which the kids enjoyed. I REALLY appreciate their accommodation of our late checkout request — that was the cherry on top of a great stay. We would stay there again!A few things, but none are dealbreakers:- the listing didn’t indicate one full-bathroom/shower- we couldn’t access the TV app we wanted and couldn’t get it resolved despite messaging the host over 3 days time- the bedrooms are missing some nightstands, but we improvised with a laundry basket- one bed upstairs has the middle sunken in, forced snuggling with your spouse!FYI you can hear live music from bars early in the night, but we loved being in the middle of it all
