We were in Astoria to escape the heat of Central CA. The location was great & walking distance to the downtown area. In the spirit of full disclosure, it is quite a hill on the return trip! We didn’t mind - it got our steps in, but it is substantial. the view was great and proximity to the sights was great. At the bottom of the hill was the Columbia River Maritime museum as were so many other places to go eat. Deer in the yard even. Loved that!
The residence was fine for a short stay. It is small and a retro space. There were things I know were in my great grandmother’s house! As houses of this period were, it was not spacious. Had we been staying longer than a week the lack of comfy, read a book seating would have become an issue. However for a week, it was fine enough. Same with the kitchen. For a week, we could eat out. For a longer stay, the electric stove and size of the kitchen would have been an issue. The place is good, just don’t expect the more modern conveniences. The bathroom is tiny but consistent with the era. A couple with no kids would be fine in the space. Kids or a 2nd couple would have made this too tight unless it was a second couple who we were besties with because you would need patience to figure out bathroom rotations and shower use. You would be limited on comfort seating. For the price and duration of our stay, it was good. We were happy to have the opportunity to stay. Not in the OMG category but fine for where we wanted to be!
