- The property requires a damage deposit of $50/night/unit (maximum of $300/unit) on the credit/debit card provided The deposit is required for EACH UNIT and is refunded IN FULL upon check-out.

- The maximum number of days you can book per reservation is only 28.

Beach view was great. Loved the waves lapping along the shoreline! Room was adequate and about what I expected for the low price. I did buy some groceries and found cooking my eggs and sausage to be suboptimal. There was a pan and plates and cups. What was lacking was a dish rag (used a hand towel from the bathroom), no paper towels, ONE fork, (thankfully it was just me on this trip) a couple knives and three spoons. There was no wooden spoon so had to use my one fork to stir the eggs. I tried hard not to scratch the non stick pan surface! There wasn’t a spatula, steak knife (I used my pocket knife) or some other very basic kitchen utensils. The oven was super tricky to turn off. I had to search for the perfect spot on the dial to finally get the burner to go out. Took about a half hour of trial and error! “OFF” on the dial doesn’t really mean off. Fridge and microwave were great. The bathroom had one 3/4 roll of TP but luckily it was enough. Usually hotels will have an extra roll of TP in a cabinet. I couldn’t find one. All the above being said, I had a nice time and would come back in hopes some of the suggestions I’ve made would be implemented.

Had to wait for room to be ready. Parking was very small or across street in sketchy lot. Shower didn't get warm at all. Bedding wasnt great. Great view.

The hotel is older and is in need of maintenance. But the room was clean, and everything in the room worked fine. It was very convenient to have the mini-kitchen in the room (refrigerator, oven, microwave, sink).It is direct and easy beachfront access. The pool was good sized and clean.

Great location, decent lodgings

This is the second time my mom and I have stayed at Sugar Sands in the fall. We love the quiet location and the open beach. The hotel is next to a long sand dune so the beach feels very private and secluded. The hotel is older and not well maintained (the walkway to the beach needs repair, there is lots of visible wear and tear on the premise), but the room feels clean, comfortable, and quiet. The staff is friendly and helpful. While I wouldn't give it 5 stars, I would gladly return here for another quiet beach vacation.

Family getaway

This was a nice quite place to stay. The rooms could have been a little bigger and they need to purchase more towels to have on hand. Other than that we have no complaints. The staff was very nice. Very easy check in and out. Nice beach location with private access and nice pool. Close to everything. Would stay again.

Stunning view

We had such a wonderful time staying at this rental. It is a little older, but for us, we didn’t mind at all when we considered the location on the beach in a quieter part of town, the incredible view and heated pool. We woke up to the sound of the ocean and just enjoyed every minute of our stay. Loved having a kitchen too. Would come back again!

We enjoyed our stay. The only thing we didn’t like was the front room could not get air so they stayed hot . We stayed in a two bed Queen . Other than that it was ok

Adequate beachside stay

Nothing fancy but totally fine. The room was clean, but hard to keep that way with a sandy balcony and no rugs or broom. No glasses at all—we had to go out and buy margarita glasses—but other basics were supplied. The pool seemed fun for kids and the beach access was awesome! Beware of the additional $81 resort fee, and be ready for a long check-in process. Don’t count on any restaurants within walking distance. Otherwise if you’re just looking for a place to sleep at a gorgeous beach, this place will work just fine!

Horrible stay

The sugar sands motel is old and out dated. We had no room service even after asking several times. We had to use the pool towels and change the dirty sheets on the beds ourselves after going to the office to get them. The ice and coke machine did not work. The staff was rude and did not help with anything and did not care to either.

Hotel not a condo

VRBO somehow switched our reservation to reservations@roompick.com and did not disclose this. Dealing with Roompick was a bit nebulous. Also, the sign outside states the facility is a hotel along with a vacancy sign, which indicates it is a hotel. The filters we set were condos, beach front, etc., and we were disappointed with the facility as a whole. The building on the left side of the office definitely needs upgrading, painting, etc., definitely dated.

Needs LOTS of improvements

The ceilings of balcony’s have huge holes and lots of missing concrete. Same goes for walls near staircases/elevators. Single ice machine for both buildings and did not work at all one day of our stay, drink machine not working and not stocked at all during the 5 day stay. The sinks are stopped up and not draining, WiFi in the room is non-existent. Was to have a single cleaning during the stay but never did and towels not changed, had to go to front desk and ask for new ones. Elevator is extremely hot, zero circulation and if someone were to get Stuck in it they would pass out. All fire equipment on the walls was held together by silicone adhesive. Things at this complex are way below par and safety standards.

The property is not well kept. The parking area was too small. Large vehicles parked adjacent to each other and we could not get into the parking area. The room was not clean. The bath tub was disgusting. The toilet was stopped up and maintenance had to come with a snake to unstop it. The TV did not work. Maintenance had to fix it. The balcony was nasty. The AC was so loud, it was difficult to sleep. We would not recommend this place to anyone. If we had been able to find a place to stay we would have moved that first night. we did leave a day early.
