Peaceful Hidden Gem

Perfect location for a peaceful stay on my favorite Island in NY. Beautiful views from the house and deck. Dock was perfect for our small motor boat. Kitchen could use some updates but the bathrooms were recently updated and in great condition. House was clean with a great layout. My family had a wonderful stay!

A wonderful stay

We had a wonderful stay in Shleter island and are definitely planning to be back. The house is beautiful, very well equipped, comfortable and welcoming. The hosts were helpful and the location is amazing.

This home was lovely. The house was clean , bright and airy. Very close to the beach and we could ride our bikes to Marie’s. I would rent this home again.

Perfect

The house is right on the water, with beautiful views from the living room, the master bedroom, and even the kitchen. It's at the edge of the Mashomack Preserve, so within a few yards' walk you reach a long stretch of beach, perfect for walking and rock collecting. The house itself is very comfortable, and there's a fire pit in the yard to sit by in the evening. We wish we could have stayed for weeks!

We had a really lovely stay at this house on Shelter Island. Our hosts made the whole process very easy. They were extremely accommodating and communicative. They answered questions prior to the reservation and addressed everything I asked. They also provided wonderful ideas about what to do on the island. Check in was very easy and the house was perfectly clean and ready for us. The location is great. The view from the house is magnificent. The house is in a private association with its own beach. While we were there, on a great summer weekend, we only saw a few other people on the beach. The property was very nice and we made use of the deck, grill, yard, fire pit and the dock. I highly recommend it. Also, we had a magical dinner/evening at the Rams Head Inn. It's wonderful!!!

Amazing shelter island home!

Beautiful, clean, and fun home in Shelter Island! We loved eating, hanging out, and playing card games on the wrap around porch. We loved kayaking and stand up paddle boarding right off the dock at the house. House was very clean, exactly as shown in the listing, and came well stocked with beach chairs, a tandem kayak, stand up paddle board, hammock, and plenty of seating areas. Wifi worked really well for when a few of us had to take work calls on the trip. We’ll definitely be back!

Shelter Island Idyll

Our family vacation at this property was delightful. The house had everything needed and more, and the owners were very responsive. The instructions were brief and simple to follow, and all of the appliances worked well. The private beach was a two-minute walk away, and most days we had it completely to ourselves. If you walk—or kayak—down the beach to the estuary, there are shorebirds to watch. For travelers who prefer a clean aesthetic—my husband has turned a lot of hotel art around to face the wall—the house is ideal: excellent taste, lots of white, simple lines, no doo-dads. We were there for relaxation, and the location was perfect for that. My favorite was the view from the deck of the cove, with its boats bobbing in their slips, and the open water beyond.

October wedding weekend

great house in a perfect location as the wedding was around the corner on Merkel. beautiful views and plenty of supplies. The freezer was dripping when we got to the house but the owners returned my call very quickly and had an alternative in the basement. By the time we realized the fridge wasn't working either, it was too late and we ended up just using our coolers. We would highly recommend this home !!

Great trip to Shelter Island

The house is very nice – it has all the basics and plenty of room to spread out. The bathrooms are new and luxurious. The location is beautiful. It’s quiet, breezy and the water views are lovely. We loved heading down to the dock and taking a spin in the kayak. We also spent some time on the beach – it is rocky but peaceful and beautiful. We started each day with breakfast on the deck (they have every coffee appliance you could want) and finished by making s’mores in the firepit. Perfect! We hope to go back very soon!

We Loved it!! Beautiful home!

This is a perfect vacation home, we had 4 adults, 2 (very small) kids and a baby- there’s so much space, 3 different eating areas, right on the water, it’s fantastic. Will definitely be returning!

Very comfortable and practically arranged house. The deck with the grill allows for great outdoor drinks and dinner. Bathrooms are quite new and great. Well equipped kitchen. Super clean and ample supplies of sheets and towels. Great stay with friends altogether

Great House! Great Location! Great View!

If you are looking for a great house, in a great location, with a great view, this is the house for you. The views are spectacular! We traveled for a long weekend with six adults, and felt right at home. Although we ate out most of the time, the kitchen is well equipped, as is the entire house. The house is very clean, and welcoming. If we find ourselves going back to Shelter Island, we would definitely stay at this house again.

We booked this home for a quick getaway. The location and views are absolutely gorgeous. The owners take great care of their home. It is very very very clean. The bathrooms are gorgeous. There is not a lot of furniture in the house, but there is all the basics. Everything is pristine white and elegant. We used the kitchen a lot. Some of the appliances are old but they all work. We had beautiful dinners enjoying the view. The kitchen could use more cookie sheets and ovenmits . It is great to do a lot of cooking and just sit and eat your meal - either inside or outside the views are incredible. The home has picture windows everywhere.

Stylish and relaxing

What an amazing stay. The house, the yard, the DECK, the private beach! The house was immaculately clean which is super important. I stayed here with my family and we were all super comfortable. This house was perfect for us (ages 25-65!). Simply decorated yet absolutely chic. Although we explored the beaches of shelter island it was nice to have a private beach to take a sunset stroll on; finding beautiful seashells and rocks was my favorite part about it. The living room was bright, lots of natural sunlight. The bathrooms... we were all obsessed with them. State of the art showers, huge plus. Kitchen was BIT outdated but you know what, that did not matter to use because everything else was just so spectacular. Chisato was responsive and helpful. I would love to rent this house again. For a family on a budget the house was perfect for us. We spent a lot of time hanging out on the deck, eating the Captain's famous fried chicken, drinking espresso and laughing. What a beautiful stay. I will be recommending this house to friends... although I may want to keep it as a family secret :)

Family reunion off season

We had a family reunion during the off season and could have not selected a better home! The views are amazing! You are right on the water and have your private dock! The house was immaculately cleaned! The sheets and towels were high quality and made for a perfect and very comfortable sleeping experience. The house has been remodeled and the bathrooms are a truely work of art! Tastefully designed including rain fall showers and beautiful tiles. The location is perfect! Great restaurants and close to the South ferry! We will definitely stay again!

What an amazing stay. The island is as cute as can be with a mix of country and beach. It was such a delight, great food all around, farms, amazing beaches- nice and clean! But this stay would not have been nearly as amazing without Chisato's home. With breezy, slightly chilly nights the deck was the most perfect place to hang out, equipped with barbecue and serene backdrop of the bay. My whole family was beyond content. The pictures DO NOT do this place justice. Most importantly it was CLEAN which my family and I always appreciate. The showers were modern and grand, the living room aesthetic was simple, chic and comfortable... oh and spacious! I hope to rent here again :) The kitchen was also well equipped and spacious, a bit outdated but that is was gave it a little extra charm, as if it need more, totally NOT a deal breaker (for us at least)... The private beach is peaceful and beautiful, especially at sunset but wade's beach is larger and only 5 minutes away by car- what a sweet deal considering living in the city you have to travel 45 minutes to the nearest beach!! It was the cutest home, my family and i enjoyed every minute of it. I could go on and on for days about this home and Shelter Island it self... One last thing, go to Sunset Beach to paddle board and eat at Captain Codys but be prepared to wait!

A Wonderful Place to Spend a Blissful Family Trip

What a gem! If you're looking for a serene, relaxing, beautiful place to decompress with family and friends, look no further. This lovely 3-bedroom house on the water is all that and more. We can't say enough about the location, just minutes from Shelter Island's South Ferry overlooking a picturesque cove and a quick stroll from a private beach (great for shell and rock collectors). The house was recently remodeled, and the bedrooms, bathrooms, and living room are sleek and modern and very comfortable. The owner told us the kitchen remodel is in the works, although it's certainly usable as is (even with older appliances). I can't say enough about the quality of the bathrooms -- we loved the rain showers and the generous tub, which our two toddlers loved bathing in. Beds were luxurious and great; no lumpy mattresses here! If you have young children, the house is particularly well equipped with toys, a high chair, baby gates, and a travel crib. Our kids loved playing out on the deck all day, and we felt totally safe to let them do so. We barely turned on the flat-screen TV because we were having so much fun outdoors -- beach-hopping, grilling, kayaking in the home's kayak, exploring the island's farms and historical sites, and just generally basking in the beauty of the region. We'll never forget the 10 days we spent here this summer. Can't wait to come back.

Beautiful house, nice private beach

My friends and I had a great time staying at this house. The area was secluded, quiet, and peaceful. The house was very spacious and the hosts were very accommodating and accessible, and Shelter Island was a lovely getaway from NYC. Everything worked out very well, and I would definitely be interested in coming back.
