I really tried to be positive
Vrbo told me to ask my host two questions before arriving, but when I did the host was short, to the point and borderline rude - as if I was being pushy instead of following the directions I was given by the people I had paid for my stay.
Upon arrival, the porch was old and rickety and the stairs up to the rental unit narrow and awkward (the entrance to the owner’s unit by contrast is quite new and looks much more secure with no rusty nails showing). The unit is upstairs from where the host lives, which is uncomfortable - especially when the bathroom smells of sewage, there are bugs larger than an inch in diameter on the walls, and more than one curtain came down during a 3 night stay. “Work from home” is advertised but not possible because of the constant road noise. Worst of all, the owner came into the unit when I was there all alone, deadbolted in, without even knocking or announcing herself as she entered. It was abundantly clear that I was there, since she had not given a key to the deadbolt, which she had to search for her own key to unlock.
I had another stay booked with her over the Christmas holidays, and after only one night in the unit I cancelled that booking. I would rather stay at the cheap motel down the road than stay here again. Do not recommend.
