Neglectful hosts
I have never been moved to write a negative review about anything until now. Our experience with the hosts, Vincent and Justin (of Namastay rentals), has to be shared so that others will know to avoid their properties. They deserve a zero for communication.
We checked in to the house at 2:30 am due to flight delays and found there was no hot water for anyone to take a shower after a long day of travel. The following morning, I sent messages through VRBO, multiple voicemails to the contact number, and sent texts to the hosts, but none generated a response. Finally, after 4 hours of silence, I called VRBO traveler assistance and explained the host was not responding to our messages and could they do anything to help us out (feeling desperate because we had to get ready for our son’s graduation in a few hours). Be aware, VRBO has no power to mediate on your behalf once you check-in and payment is dispersed to hosts. All they did was file a claim and send the host another message to respond. An hour later, the host responds, “Hello, there’s no hot water? In the whole house?” I confirmed and asked how this can be fixed.
Then nothing.
We ended up taking cold showers.
There was no follow up, no effort to work with us to trouble shoot, nothing.
I could overlook the other issues with the property, such as insects, patio doors that don’t lock, insufficiently stocked towels and toilet paper. But no one should tolerate the neglect of an indifferent host.
