Hi Michael, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. The road was a little messy then, it was just after two days of torrential downpours. We got a significant portion of our annual rainfall earlier that week. As soon as it dried out a bit David got out on the tractor and restored the road. I'm glad you were able to cope! But, as ever, we were nearby to help if needed. I hope you are able to visit again soon.

I’m glad you enjoyed our Cabin in the Woods. We love the quiet there. There are still a couple of unpaved roads over mountains if you come in to us the back way via Highway 74A. Although the views are amazing we do provide a caution and an alternate route in your check-in time confirmation e-mail sent the day before arrival. The more commonly used routes are all paved.

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at our Cabin in the Woods. You’ll be happy to know that we have just improved the wi-fi there, which also enabled us to install a smart TV.

I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. We’ve leveled and repaired the grill – looked like Hurricane Michael did a little damage there – but fortunately that was all! We have two fire pits on our 20-acre property – one near the pond and one near the creek. We don’t have them at each cabin because for the cabins that are on the wooded portion of the property it would be a major fire hazard. I’m sure you understand that the safety of our guests is a critical factor in deciding where to put fire pits on the property. Putting fire pits in a wooded area is just not safe.

Hi Tara, I'm glad you enjoyed the Cabin and property. Cell phone service is usually OK here in the mountains, but varies by carrier. Turning on wifi calling can improve reception significantly, as can just getting out from under the metal roof. We also keep a spare phone to lend guests in case it's needed (although it's never been requested) and you are always welcome to give family my cell phone number in case you are needed in an emergency. We look forward to your next visit!

I am sorry you had trouble communicating with me during your stay. I have checked my phone records and see that although I texted you 5 times during your stay, I did not receive any texts from you. I also called you twice but the calls did not go through. I did exchange a couple of texts with your wife on her phone, however nothing about replacing a pan. We are on the property and have replacements easily available should you need them. As I noted to your wife the snowstorm may have been interfering with your cell phone signal. I see also that I tried to call you on my spare emergency phone (which is a different carrier) and was unable to get through. Sadly we were completely unaware that you needed anything and were otherwise unsuccessful reaching you by phone or text. However, in that same time period, I was communicating with other guests on the property without issues. I do know that there are some less well known cell phone providers that work only in large cities and don’t work well if at all in rural areas. You may wish to take that into consideration next time you visit a rural area. Fishing in the pond in winter can be challenging, since the fish are not very active and tend to hide out at the bottom in cold weather. The location of the creek is on the property map you were sent and a copy of which is in the guest guidebook in the cabin. We had scheduled the porch ceiling for power washing after an exceedingly wet year, however, that was delayed due to the provider’s COVID issues. Again, I am sorry that your inability to communicate by phone affected your enjoyment of our property.
