Relaxing stay

First time in Maui

This beautiful condo was the perfect introduction to Maui. We loved sitting on the balcony in the morning and walking down to the beach for sunset. Will definitely stay here again

Kihei Comforts

Apartment is very cute and has everything you need for a complete Hawaiian vacation. Plenty of beach towels and accessories to use. Kitchen is fully stocked. Pool and grills well maintained. Close to grocery stores, restaurants, and shops.

Great stay in Kehei

Condo was very nice, ac worked great! The view was great, nice pool, hot tub and kiddy pool! The property was well kept up, nice clean grills! Short walk to the beach. We spotted four turtles during out stay, one sleeping on the beach! :-) It's also a great location in Kehei, close to everything! We would definately stay there again!

The pictures on line arewhat you see! Had to go out side to see the beautiful Sunset Christmas week.

Loved our stay! Free parking, beach chairs and best stocked kitchen supplies we have ever had in a condo. It is an older condo, so not perfect. But great space for a couple! And room and dishes to entertain. Family came from their $$$$ hotel for the sunset. Would stay again.

Great place/great view!

Great view of the West Maui Mountains and the pool and putting green. Close to shopping, food trucks and restaurants. Walkable beach 100+ yards away with tennis and pickleball courts right next door. Windy in the PM, but the BBQ grills work despite that and it's a good way to meet new people. Minor problem with the TV was handled right away. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

The unit was really nice, we didn't need anything as it was well stocked with shampoo, soap, etc. Gorgeous view. The unit was hard to find as there are two 6 story buildings. I would suggest that information about which building (The Plumeria) be added to the VRBO information. The office was not easy to find either. It's actually located on the south side of the building but no signs to the office. We had more difficulty because we didn't arrive until 11:00 pm. The unit is in a perfect location with a lot of great restaurants nearby. We would definitely recommend this particular VRBO.

Lovely beachside condo in a quiet part of Kihei

We loved our week at Kauhale Makai! The unit itself was exactly as described and photographed in the VRBO listing. Several reviews mentioned a well-stocked kitchen - for those who like to know details, that included a drip coffee maker, a water filter, grilling tools for the community grills, tupperwares, ice trays in the freezer, dish soap, and some oil/vinegar/shoyu/spices leftover from past guests. There was also plenty of toilet paper and extra linens for bath and bed, and the TV is a smart TV that can connect to your apps.The furnishings are very classy and in excellent condition. That really made us feel at home while sitting around the living areas during our lazy holiday. The grounds at Kauhale Makai are beautiful with a large lawn leading to the beach, two pools and a hot tub. Over Christmas it was lively (in a fun, non-disruptive way) among the guests and owners! The beach was never crowded and the water was very clear and calm. We found the surrounding neighborhood challenging to walk in as there aren't pedestrian-friendly sidewalks in the surrounding blocks or along the route to the grocery store and shopping/restaurant areas. Hawai'i is very car-centric but given that the area is full of beachside condos I was a little surprised at the pedestrian inaccessibility.We would absolutely book Laurie's unit at Kauhale Makai again, and have already recommended it to friends! Mahalo nui loa for a lovely vacation!

Filthy Condo with Beautiful View...defensive host!

After a long flight, car rental scene and a trip Costco for groceries for two weeks in Kihei, we headed off to the condo we booked 6 months prior. Upon opening the front door we discovered that the condo had not been cleaned. I called the cleaning person on our instruction sheet. He was unaware that we were coming; he told me he would call me back in 5 min. and hung up. We waited, unable to bring up our bags and food from the hot car. After 20 min. and no call I called our host Laurie Neff. She was surprised and apologetic. She told us this has only happened 4 times in the last 14 years. She text the cleaner, he then called back and said he could “bang it out” in 40 minutes. We told him to please take his time as it was a mess. He sent a text saying that there was too much laundry and we wouldn’t get clean bath or beach towels until the next day! At least we can un pack the car and bring in our groceries. Laurie called to check back, I told her it looked good and that we were settling in. Upon further inspection though I discovered that the cleaner had done a very cursory job. The bed was made, fridge cleaned out, floor swept, not mopped, dishwasher run, table tops wiped down. In the bathroom the toilet had been cleaned, tub rinsed, not scrubbed, rust stained. There was an all over grunginess that still existed. The doors and knobs were sticky and stained. The bathroom was the worst. The caulking around the tub was black with wet sticky mold, so were the corners of the bathroom floor and tracks of the shower door. There was hair in the mold. bathroom rug..filthy! This wasn’t a one off poor cleaning; this is months of neglect. We were exhausted, it was after 11:00pm and I thought it more prudent to buy a bottle of bleach and do it myself. We were not willing to wait and monitor the cleaner while he re-did his job. There were many other cleaning disappointments and smells, an open junction box w/exposed wire, no cable in the living room, wrong internet code info, the living room slider screen fell off, broken equipment, sheets so old/worn they wouldn’t stay on the bed. I text Laurie re: broken equipment, she asked if there were other issues, I told her everything and sent photos, I asked for a few days credit. I didn’t get an answer for 3 days. then I received a long defensive email from her, she said because we got a deal on rent due to some exterior work being done that we should be satisfied. She begrudgingly refunded our cleaning fee.

Nice Apartment Complex At the North End of Kihei

Tidy, well maintained, good, well-equipped kitchen, we would rent this condo again. Enjoyed the ocean view sitting on the balcony. Everything about the place was well thought out. We really enjoyed our stay.

Perfection

My wife and I could not have asked for a better experience. We could have lived in the provided beach chairs (and umbrella) on the beach. It felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The condo had everything we needed our hostess was great and easy to work with. We liked the location as it was an easy trek from airport and a super close drive to stores/restaurants.

Perfect location!

We loved staying at this property! It had everything we needed including a cold pitcher of filtered water in the fridge upon arrival! ❤️ The view was breathtaking every morning we opened the curtains and enjoying my cup of coffee on the lanai was perfect. The location of this property was just right! It was centrally located to all the spots we wanted to go to. Only 1.5 hour away from Haleakala crater to watch the sunrise - 2.5 hours away from Hana. 35 min from Lahaina. It’s a quiet area - no loud luaus going on but lots of great restaurants and shopping - even local fruit stands just walking distance. The beach has lots of washed up dead coral on it which makes for a beach combers dream beach. Laurie was responsive when we needed her. The code to the pool is not what is listed so that does need to be updated. The laundry is coin operated but they are very close on the same floor as unit. Mahalo for an amazing home away from home.

Great Location

The condo was in a great spot in Kihei. Nice and quiet, walking distance to so many restaurants and beaches. The pool was great, grounds were clean and beautiful.

Great building beautiful views and comfy beds

We stayed here for 10 days, the unit is perfect and grounds and complex are great. You can walk along the beach forever, pool and park in front and south has tennis courts, etc in it. My one thing was after dark there is no where to walk, because there is no sidewalks. There is coffee only, drug store, etc only a few blocks away but you have to walk along the highway. Otherwise it was great!

Christmas holidays 2019-20

Fantastic stay! Laurie was helpful both during the booking process and with questions leading up to our trip. Location is excellent in our opinion with easy access to various parts of the island. The accommodations were well-appointed and comfortable. BBQs were a little finicky but we managed. All-in-all an excellent trip over the holidays for our family of four and we plan to return as soon as we can. Mahalo Laurie!

My husband and I decided to rent this condo for our honeymoon and we really enjoyed our stay! Everything was very neat and clean when we arrived, we had all the dishes we needed as well as toiletries. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is going to Maui for their honeymoon!

Superb condo, amazing location, close to everything

My wife and I stayed for 3 weeks. We loved that you could walk right out from the unit, not cross any streets, and be at a beautiful beach in about a hundred yards. There's a whale conservation area a few blocks north, and public beach areas south. The beach itself is easily a mile in each direction of uncrowded walking and sunning. The facility is very well maintained with daily cleaning of the pool area, BBQ grills and amenities. The on-site concierge was friendly and very helpful, even when not booking a trip through her. The unique thing about this condo is that 2 sliding glass doors both open to the beach/bay area. The location is North Kihei, close to everything, and we never even used the included air conditioning. We thought getting bicycles would be good, but the road is a little narrow in spots - honestly it was easier to walk down the beach and cross over into town, or jump in our rental car for a trip to the grocery store or a new snorkel spot. We snorkeled almost every day, saw turtles everywhere, and even saw whales mid-April (normal season is Nov-March). The kitchen is VERY well-equipped. About 80% of the condo is rentals like us, and the evenings in the hot-tub/pool was a great way to exchange ideas and tips with neighbors. There was construction/renovation going on, but only 9-4 on weekdays, when we were usually out enjoying Maui.. When we come back to Maui, I will definitely try to stay here as my first choice.

Absolutely Perfect!

The unit is exactly as presented. Awesome ocean views, comfy furniture, and a lovely updated kitchen. Everything we needed was there; beach towels, ice chest, beach umbrella... nice appliances, and the best location on site. I highly recommend this unit and would love to go back. Did I mention the deep soaker tub and the lovely linens? I was traveling with my daughter, but with the soft lighting on the lanai, this would be great for a couple. Looking forward to another stay.
