We stayed at mountain ranch for my wife's birthday to get away from the city and unplug; maybe visit Apple Hill for a bit too. There were 4 of us; we have 2 early teenage boys.
Unplugging there is easy. The neighborhood is super quiet, and the house was very warm and inviting; and my wife mentioned several times how cozy she felt there.
Mtn rose is a home away from home and has plenty of everything you'd find in your own home - whenever we wished we had something, boom, we found it. Things you don't even think of like cooking pans, whisks, napkins, s&p shakers, cooking spray, portable heaters, etc. Its all there - I felt like the owners had thought of everything (took a while to locate the trash bags, but we didn't look in the can bottom for extras).
The kids and I LOVED the ping pong table in the garage. It also had a pool table and air hockey table, which we didn't use, and also snow sledding equipment, frisbees, tennis racquets, and even one of those "child safety plastic stands" with the flags for nearby drivers. We didn't even get to the extensive DVD collection there for kids and grown ups - a nice perk. The owner tells me that the community has a pool and a frisbee golf course too - we didn't see where to access that... maybe that can be more apparent in the documentation somehow; but the rooms had binders and guides in intuitive places. The guides were complete on how to operate everything. Very easy. The light switches are labeled to what they turn on/off, which helped a lot. The owners were easy to contact if something went awry, but nothing did.
The only real drawback we had - and its not really something you can change easily about Mountain rose - was the fact that there was only one bathroom. 4 grown people sharing that one bathroom was pretty difficult at times; especially if one was using the shower (tempered glass walls, so no one else could use the facilities). My wife also had hoped that there would be a bathtub, but the bathroom is too small for that. In fact, that was the feeling we got from most of the house. It has everything, but it felt a little "packed", as in, there was not much space to move around to squeeze past another person in the hall, around furniture, etc.
Overall, it was a great, quiet place to stay. Despite the very small shortcomings, I think we would stay here again for its convenience of location and its inclusivity of all amenities you would need for a quiet weekend away to unplug. Enjoy!
