Escape from crowd and noise!
Come and visit Kyoto's mountainous area and stay in a traditional farm house renovated by my hand.
The place we live is called Keihoku. It's only 1 hour north away from center Kyoto, and you can enjoy stunningly majestic mountain and river scenery, fresh air, and meet heart-warming people. We can also offer some unique nature tours for you.
This is for booking of an entire house (Not booking of a bedroom).We can only accept one group of guests at a time.

--Access--
To get to the Keihoku area, take a JR bus on the Takao/Keihoku Line from Kyoto Station (terminal number 3) via Enmachi and Nijo station. Shuzan (Syuzan) terminal is a final stop and it takes around 1 hour 20 mins from Kyoto station. It costs 1,080 yen, or you can use the Japan Rail Pass.

You will get on the bus from a rear door and get off from the front door after you put your fare in the box next to a driver or show JR pass. We can pick you up at Shuzan terminal.

The bus timetable from Kyoto station to Shuzan final terminal runs at these times:

Depart: 15:30 Arrive: 16:50
Depart: 16:30 Arrive: 17:50
Depart: 17:30 Arrive: 18:50
Depart: 18:40 Arrive: 20:00

Please let us know in advance which bus you will be catching so we can greet you at the station.

The bus looks like a local city bus at the start of the trip, but we assure you, you will enjoy the scenery from the window when you come into the mountain lane (after about 40mins or so).

Or you come here by car, please search for Tokuheian (my listing name) on Google map.
It is easy to find my house. And let me know roughly your arrival time.

--Getting around--
Since Keihoku is quite a large area, it is difficult to visit places just on foot (most destinations are about 5-10km away).

To get around this area, you can also rent 4 bikes for free - the supermarket and bus terminal are around only 30mins away by bike. But you want to walk or run around here in the nature, I can tell you. Please feel the nature.

***The Day Tour***
We can take you on tours (with English guidance and transportation) for an additional fee. We organize a tour schedule with you based on what’s most suitable for you, the weather and the season.

※Special Seafood Tour (Wednesday closed the fish market):
We go to the seaside to get very fresh fish and some seafood. We bring them back to our house and make very special fresh sashimi and sushi. We can go to Miyama thatched village on the way home.

Excluding fish fee and cooking experience charge. Local seafood is very, very tasteful and you cannot have the same experience elsewhere. Highly recommended!

If you want to go central Kyoto some temples and shrines , I can take you to central Kyoto.

If you choose to do a tour with us, you can pay by credit card (VISA, MASTER, JCB, AMEX, DINERS, DISCOVER). Depending on how long you stay with us, we can do multiple tours - it’s up to you.

We want to make your stay comfortable and entertaining, so we offer some added extras at our place for you to enjoy, including:

・A BBQ set - having an outdoor barbeque with guests is our favorite way of dining

・Three dogs
Bernese mountain dog Daizu is very big and calm dog. But he is hip-joint dysplasia, so he can not walk well and his action is rough, sometimes can not control himself. Please forgive him if he will cannon into you.
Our French bulldog Maymay is very cute and she loves meeting new people and making friends.
Youngest big dog is Hachi. He is still puppy. So he is very powerful and still naughty but shy.
・A small farm full of seasonable vegetables, which you can harvest and eat for free


※We set up a cafe that serves light meals. We can enjoy eating there with you. :)

--Interaction with guests--
Basically, I will be with you and help you during your stay in the property. I and my wife Yukako also offer some optional (paid) extras during your stay, such as cooking and trekking. I speak English, thanks to my travel experience around the world.

My hobbies are motorcycle riding, playing with dogs, reading books to compare different cultures and history, sea fishing and making pickles with home-grown vegetables.

We like to get to know our guests and would love to learn about your culture and your life. We love meeting new people and sharing the history of Keihoku with our guests. We are friendly and like to chat. :)




京都市より車で約1時間。山間の村に200年の歴史の茅葺のお家があります。丸々一棟貨で環境もゆったり。駐車場の心配もご無用。ワイワイガヤガヤ周りを気にせず楽しめます。 元々この地区の農林業従事者の7代目長男として、この家で産まれました。屋号は徳平と地域では知られております。ですからこのエリアのご質問はいつでもお受けいたします。良い情報があればお知らせします。 さて部屋の内容は、畳の間が2部屋、ベッド(1台)部屋、他に囲炉裏の間、ダイニングルーム、キッチン、シャワー・トイレの部屋、全て生活できるものは揃っております。 更に最近手作りで2階を改築し、魅力的な屋根裏部屋でヨガ、音楽、ミーティング何でもイベントとしてご利用いただけるようになっております。 茅葺家の前にはホストが昨年手作りで作った、それなりにオシャレと思える(自画自賛)カフェもあります。ご利用方法はホストにご相談ください。 収容は8人まで可能です。分かりやすく説明すると、雑魚寝なら20人程度寝れるゆったりしたスペースはあります。 自家用車で来られる方はグーグルマップで徳平庵でOK.　公的交通なら京都駅からJRバスで80分。到着時間をお知らせいただければ周山駅（終着駅）まで迎えに行きます。
