Hidden Northfield Cottage

About this space
A private, peaceful space 2 blocks from St. Olaf College and less than 1 mile from downtown and Carleton College.
Our location is convenient, cozy and unique being an old ginseng farm, the duplex has a rural feel and is tucked away from the street.

Enjoy a patio space to grill at while soaking in the outdoors. We have a fully equipped kitchen, but the Ole Store, a Northfield favorite, is just down the block.
Dogs are allowed when added on the reservation and pet fee has been paid for.
The space
Best suited for adults or families with older children but all ages of children are welcome. (Adults must be 25 or older to book.) You know best what works for your family!

The only bathroom is on the first floor and the bedrooms are upstairs.
Guest access
You have access to parking and lawn, separate basement laundry, and a patio.

It was a lovely experience. The house was secluded with an abundance of nature around it. The AC worked great for being in the middle of a heat wave and kept everyone cool. Check-in and out was a breeze and the host added a lot of nice touches around the property to make us feel comfortable. Conveniently located within walking distance of a park, St. Olaf’s college, and the downtown in Northfield.

This was our second stay at The cottage-we appreciate its location in Northfield and the fact that it is tucked behind the main road and is quite peaceful-parking is easy as is check in/check out. Very responsive host. Thank you!

Great stay in a great area

We stayed here with family over a weekend while in town for a wedding, and had a great experience! The property & neighborhood were quiet and beautiful. The home had everything we needed! Thanks for a great stay!

Beautiful and quiet

Very comfortable stay while visiting Carleton, everything easy. Bonus that there were no heavy scents used for cleaning (I am sensitive to fragrance). Glad we stayed here and hope to visit again

Sweet location and cute little place within a few minutes drive of St Olaf. I stayed here during move out with my son. Unfortunately it rained quite a bit so we couldn't enjoy the yard and the patio. Would love to stay again if I can work out the dates.

I love the closed off cozy feel of the property. The house was spotless and there is an amazing couch! Our host helped find a place for our dog to stay while we spent the day on the Carleton campus with our daughter. Sammy (dog) and I spent many enjoyable days going to the Dundas dog park and hiking in the Nerstrand Big woods park.

Cozy Cottage

This place sure had the cozy vibe going on! Very cute and comfortable little cottage. I felt it had everything we needed for a quick girls weekend in the adorable Northfield town! I even tried some of the sweet tea from Jerusalem (what a fun unexpected treat)!

Cozy hidewaya

We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere the house provided. Also a happy surprise that was unmentioned in the listing was the basket of old books and toys in the basement, our boys loved curling up on the couch in the little downtime we had to read Dr. Seuss books.

All perfect. Just want to alert owners that the barbecue propane (?) seemed to be escaping/leaking. Also there seems to be a bug problem at the window in the smaller bedroom.Loved our stay, tho!

Stylish jewel box

The Hidden Cottage is so tastefully decorated and thoughtfully appointed, and an ideal location from which to visit our daughter during St Olaf’s Christmasfest. I will definitely hope to stay again at this charming cottage duplex unit. The property is compact, with very steep stairs to the two bedrooms. Something to know, as the stairs were a bit of a worry with my 85 year old father who stayed with us.

Lovely little cottage

This was a delightful little cottage, true to description. I don’t think anyone was staying in the other side of the duplex when we were there so that wasn’t an issue. It is within walking distance of St Olaf and the Ole Store Resturant and Brick Oven Bakery were both walkable and recommended! Lots of birding just outside on the patio. Really appreciated that we could stream our accounts on the TV. Appreciated the coffee and tea selection. Laundry was appreciated! Will definitely be back!

This property was wonderful. Very nicely decorated, clean, well equipped. Cute outdoor space as well! Just added information for those that need it- the stairs are steep, the mattress is very firm, and while the shower stall is smaller, it is quite comfortable to use. It’s in a lovely neighborhood, great for walking. Within 5 minutes of downtown. Try Little Joy coffee if you are downtown- great options!
