The home is located on the South end of Cape San Blas where the beaches are not crowded, and you have quick access to the quaint town of Port St Joe for all your necessities. It would of been nice to be provided with the bare essentials, such extra Toilet paper, dishwasher liquid, garbage bags, etc. Property does need some TLC. Overall the location was great and it worked well for us.

Relaxing spring break

Property was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed a relaxing week on the beach with our kids for spring break. Beach was just a short walk from the house. Property was very comfortable and the host was very responsive the few times we needed to contact him.

Forest location

The best part of the location is the forest next to the house. The two lounge chairs on the back porch can be located so that you look at all the trees and land. It is a beautiful view.

Nice place

We had a great time. My wife and I climbed the spiral staircase and slept on the top. Her parents stayed in the two other bedrooms. We used the kitchen and sat at the dining table mostly.

The best getaway!

Myself and 7 of my friends wanted a beach trip after our spring semester of college was over, and this house was perfect. It had the perfect amount of space for us, and the owners were so responsive when we had any issues or questions. They had the house stocked with supplies that most other places I’ve stayed would not have provided. I am so very thankful we stayed here and would love to come back next year!!

Everything was great and easy. Loved the place. Internet was not working tho so no tv! Modem was bad-not managers fault! Beach was a little farther away than we thought-hard to walk to due to needing hip replacement/bone cancer but not management fault.

Nothing Blue about it!

We chose the Blue Mermaid for our first family beach trip since our twins (2 years olds) came along. We found the property to be just as described. We had plenty of room and it was quiet! We loved that our dogs could come and enjoy the beach as well. The owner's have a good variety of pots, pans, and even a crockpot. Everything was easy to find. I hope that we checked out ok, we didn't see any directions so we just did like we have in the past when leaving a rental. We definitely recommend this house and its owners! We will look forward to next time!

Wonderful getaway

The Blue Mermaid was an excellent place to stay for our beach getaway! The house was exactly as pictured. It was so clean, the beds were very comfortable, and we had what we needed. There was plenty of seating both inside and outside, I especially liked the upstairs beach side balcony for star gazing. The beach and the bay can be seen from the house and both are a short walk away (with beach access). The host was quick to respond, helpful, considerate, and accommodating! Cape San Blas is a wonderfully quiet strip of beach as well with a quaint small town. There's a kayak/paddleboard/bike rental shop in walking distance of the house and a fantastic biking/walking path along the side of the road. There's also a park within walking distance with piers along the bay and pickleball courts and a fire pit! We so enjoyed are time and wish we could have stayed longer. We plan to return!

Our stay was absolutely wonderful!!!! My wife and I took our 2 kiddos to the beach for our spring break. House was absolutely perfect!!! Location was great!!! Nice little walk to the beach, very quite area!!! Very private, which we loved!!! The house had everything you could need!!! Great beds, super clean, kitchen was perfectly stocked, kids loved the upstairs loft!!! I had my own beach cart which was so nice to just leave in the little garage area every night, even tho really you could leave things out because the area is such a nice safe area!!! The owners were absolutely amazing. Everything was so easy for us when we arrived!!! Overall it was the greatest stay ever for us!!!! 5 Star for sure!!!!

Spring Break

Myself and my 13 year old daughter stayed at this listing. My sister in law met us from Texas. The area is very quiet. The walk was a little longer to the beach than I anticipated but it wasn’t an issue. My daughter loved the loft upstairs. The house was clean, plenty of linens, pet friendly. I would recommend backing into the carport. The next door neighbor had just had new gravel delivered. That gravel was spread into this driveway. The lose gravel from the neighbors made it difficult to back out if the carport. So backing into the carport made it easier to exit. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

Family reunion at the Blue Mermaid

We were a party of 5 adults who met at the beach house to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday! The property was just as described. The amenities were perfect and the house was well equipped. It was bright and cheerful, clean and comfortable. The location was wonderful. Close to the beach, just a short walk. There are miles of beach to enjoy, for fishing, walking, collecting sea shells or just relaxing. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and responded quickly to my questions. They were very helpful. There is a great little seafood restaurant and a small market just down the street. Both Port St. Joe and Apalachicola are a short drive away (15-20 minutes) and offer grocery shops, pharmacy, plenty of restaurants, cafes and quaint shops. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend The Blue Mermaid to anyone.

Beach access, bay access, and area attractions access is excellent. Issues of concern: outside decks untidy and unwelcoming, porch rockers moldy and one broken, grill disgusting, windows inoperable and screens filthy, no dish towels or dishwasher tabs or dishwashing liquid available. No dish drainer, no can opener until we asked for one which was sent via mail, no broom, living room furniture needs cleaning, dryer seems to vent into the house, so large rolling lint balls are present. We were afraid to use the grill or the dryer. Lamp in bedroom had no switch stem to turn it on. Master bathroom vanity faucet handles leak. Dust and grime behind and under furniture throughout. After we contacted the host with a few of our concerns, he sent his property manager to address our initial concerns. It was disappointing the host did not follow up to determine if the issues were resolved. Finally, before we booked the property, we asked the host about the possibility of road noise because the property appeared to be quite close to the only road up Cape San Blas. He minimized our concern and it should be noted daytime traffic noise is significant at this location.

Great house close to the beach

The house is amazing. Very close walk to the beach and there was hardly anyone on the beach. We fished everyday and caught everything from pompano to sharks.

Relaxing beach vacation

The perfect home for our week at the beach. Excellent location with views of the gulf and the bay, a short walk to get your toes in the sand! The property exceeded our expectations! We really appreciate all of the extras that the owners have included, it really made it feel like home. We would absolutely stay again and would recommend it to others.
