Relaxing cabin with scenic lake view, game room, and many nearby hiking options. We stayed in spring, with a family group of kids, parents, and grandparents. Multiple entertainment options make this a great place for family groups. The cabin is far enough away from the main road that it is very peaceful. Birds were plentiful, with sightings of turkey vultures, woodpeckers, and scrub jays visible from the large windows of the living room or deck. It’s great for birdwatching, and the option to sit inside or outside is nice. The game room and the collection of board games is great for unwinding. We got unlucky with a broken air hocky table during our stay. Fortunately, there were plenty of other gaming options. We stayed Monday through Friday, so the owners were not available to drive out to make a repair, but they were very responsive by text. For those that prefer home-cooked meals, the kitchen is well-furnished with appliances, cookware, and dishware. We enjoyed the convenience of being able to cook family meals. In addition to bringing food, plan on bringing your own Ziploc bags, napkins, coffee filters or k-cups, etc. The general store at Lake Cuyamaca is not consistently stocked, and the store shelves were over half empty when we went looking for more coffee filters to supplement the few that the housekeeper had set out in the coffee/tea nook. Also, the air can be very dry in the mountains, so plan on sealing your coffee / k-cups well to keep them fresh.
