We stayed for 1 week at Rio Santos Residences, 1-bedroom/1-bath apartment. The apartment was spacious and comfortable, fully equipped for self-catering with a fridge/freezer, 4-hob burner (no oven), microwave, pots/pans, dishware, cutlery. It was clean and comfortable and secure. It is open-concept with the kitchenette, table/2-chairs, and small living room in one area, a separate large bedroom, and a large bathroom with shower. There is plenty of closet space in the bedroom, as well as a wall safe to store valuables (e.g., passport, ID). The apartment we stayed in is on the upper floor of a 2-apartment unit, which enjoyed wonderful breezes and a sunny roof-top patio (with a somewhat obstructed view of the ocean) reached by a steep ladder/stairs. There is a fan in the main living area and a quiet A/C unit in the bedroom that works quickly and quietly to keep the room cool for sleeping. The apartment is in an excellent location, in a nice residential neighbourhood one block from the main street. A wonderful white sand beach is accessible via a public walkway directly across the main street. A full grocery store is located less than a 5-min walk from the apartment. The much-touted St. Lawrence Gap is within walking distance, as are numerous other restaurants/shops/beaches. Dive and other tour operators out of Bridgetown will do pick-ups from Worthing. The apartment includes a parking space but a car hire is not absolutely necessary unless you plan to tour the full island; everything else you need is within walking distances and/or accessible from the nearby main street by bus. The apartment is in the ideal location for exploring the region - up west are swanky hotels but relatively few walkable amenities; the city of Bridgetown offers little to tourists with respect to places to stay/spend extended time - most hotels/motels/apartments are in this general region for good reason. The apartment is difficult to find on a map but is located right behind "Mojo's" - an open-air pub/restaurant. We were concerned the first night that patrons at Mojo's might keep us awake at night (I'm a light sleeper) but with the bedroom windows closed & the A/C on, this wasn't an issue for us. Because this is apartment-style accommodation for those who might like independence and/or a self-catering option, you should not book this apartment expecting 5-star luxury or perfection. But we loved it and will not hesitate to book again if we are fortunate enough to visit Barbados again.
