FULLY SELF-SUFFICIENT
This bungalow runs entirely on its own resources: 100% solar power with battery storage, and a 4,000-gallon rainwater catchment system supplying the home. Nothing is piped or wired in from shore. It is a genuinely low-footprint way to stay on the water, and it comes with a few real trade-offs that we want you to know about before you book.

Every watt here comes from our own solar panels and battery storage. There is no utility grid and no generator backup. Electricity is genuinely finite, and how you use it determines whether you have power for the rest of your stay.
AIR CONDITIONING IS LIMITED TO 3 HOURS PER DAY. This is a firm cap, not a suggestion. Outside those three hours the bungalow sits at outdoor temperature, cooled by constant sea breeze, ceiling fans and cross-ventilation through the water-facing shutters. Most guests save their three hours for bedtime; you choose when to use them. If the batteries are drawn down, the power goes out until the panels recharge.
We also ask guests to run the washer and dryer sparingly, switch off lights and fans in unused rooms, and unplug chargers when not in use. Because fresh water comes from rainfall rather than a municipal line, we ask for the same care with water as with power. Used thoughtfully, there is plenty of both for a comfortable stay.
Bocas del Toro is hot and humid year-round. Please do not book if you need climate control to sleep, if anyone in your party is sensitive to heat, or if you are traveling with an infant or an elderly guest. We would far rather you book a grid-connected property and have a wonderful trip.

GETTING HERE
Twelve minutes by water taxi to Bocas Town for restaurants, nightlife and dive shops. Seven minutes to Saigon Bay for groceries. We coordinate your boat transfer before arrival. Local tours, snorkeling trips and island excursions can be arranged for you on request.
