Communication with the VRBO manager was great and helpful - thank you Max. The check-in process with the owner was effortless. The apartment is in a great location where we could walk everywhere. It was spacious and had basic items required, other than no extra pillows or blanket if cold, etc. Unfortunately, the very first night our son was visited by unexpected guests-bed bugs!!! Fortunately it was only an issue in one bedroom not both. We tried calling and texting the owner the following morning, leaving a message of our circumstance without any communication until we tried calling again late afternoon. The owner’s response was not friendly, helpful nor apologetic and told us we would have to find new accommodation in a hotel nearby, asking us of proof that our son had been bitten by bedbugs and proof that we were staying in the area and not leaving. Fortunately, we had a video and photos of our unexpected nocturnal guests. It took us some time to find accommodation due to a soccer championship being held in Berlin, but found refuge at the last accommodation at the Mandrian Suites, who were sympathetic to our cause and even gave us a discount.Our VRBO rental fees were reversed automatically other than service charges, which we need to claim through VRBO. If it hadn’t been for the bed bugs and the owner’s lack of remorse and assistance we would have rated the apartment 5 stars.
