Wrong Address, Slow Response Delays Check-In 2 Hours
This was the worst communication experienced with a VRBO rental.
The boggled address and slow response rate overshadowed this roomy, clean, stocked apartment. On a 90+-degree steamy day, we were left outside unable to check in, with dog in tow. Our check-in instructions gave us the WRONG ADDRESS and the wrong building access code. In the lodging business, giving one the wrong address is egregious; giving no apology is inexcusable.
Turns out, we were given two addresses. One set of instructions received PRIOR TO check-in hour pictured our building with a bold red arrow pointing to building number 4519, which agreed with our confirmation. The actual check-in instructions AT check-in hour, directed our attention with an asterisk to a different building address: 4503. Although the building code given worked, our unit was not in 4503. We waited for slow emails, as the phone number given was answered by voicemail and texting was not offered. By the time we had received the actual correct building address WITH the correct building code AND then the unit access code, 2 hours had passed. The reason given to us for this error was that a "typo" had been made. How does one make a typo of 4503 from 4519?? There was no apology offered for the mistake.
In addition, the "short flight of stairs" advertised was actually two sets of stairs to get to and then into the building and 50 steps up to the unit that was on the THIRD floor.
