My family and friends stayed in the Ark (both sides) early summer 2024 and had a great time with some issues.
The Good
*It's very close to the water
*The water is shallow and warm. Perfect for little and big ones.
*The bottom is mostly sand for quite a ways out from shore with a very gradual drop.
*Less than a 10 minute drive to all the amenities in town.
*The huge Great Room is an excellent gathering place. I dare say perfect.
*The Morton & Furbush folks were had excellent communication and follow-up.
*Beautiful pine board walls and accents through most of the place.
*WiFi works well and handles a good load
*The kitchens were well stocked with everything we needed. The only thing we wanted that they didn't have was a soft spatula.
*The provided kayaks were great.
The Bad
*There are some maintenance issues. Such as a toilet that wouldn't flush as a piece was broken but replaced with a paperclip.
*There were two leaks during a rainstorm that came through the ceiling. One of which we were asked to catch in a bucket. We did, but it needed to be emptied throughout one night. That put quite a damper on my following day. But they asked and it seemed like the right thing to do.
*Some of the beds are exceptionally uncomfortable. The most notable example is the bed upstairs on the small side of the Ark. It's like sleeping in a bowl.
*Goose poop. There is goose excrement everywhere between the building and the water. All over the lawn, the dock, the deck, etc. definitely not hygienic to go barefoot anywhere here or let little ones play without VERY close supervision.
*There is no air conditioning. If high heat and humidity are a concern, you may want to consider staying elsewhere.
We enjoyed our stay and may return with appropriate preparations first, such as brining our own air mattresses. Despite some concerns, the excellent communication from Morton & Furbush is definitely noteworthy.
