If you're looking for a romantic getaway or some slightly rustic cabin like experience in the mountains this place is it. There a gas powered fire place, which is VERY convenient but does give off a gas smell. The layout is comfortable but could use some furniture and bed upgrades. Once you sit in the couch its very difficult to get out, you just sink in, but sometimes it was a good thing! It's VERY dog friendly with water/food bowls available on the porch and a designated garbage for poop bags. My family of 4 and our 65 lb dog stayed a week and had a peaceful time. Location is perfectly situated in the mountains with gorgeous views and only 5 mins from downtown black mountain. The gravel road up the hill to the cabin could use a little attention. We bottomed out our van quite a bit due to the holes in the gravel/dirt road.

We had such an amazing stay here. This cabin was perfect. It was so cozy and was in such a great place, it felt secluded but was not far from anything.

The home was not clean. Beds not cleaned, dirty dishes in the sink, garbage not taken out, a recycle bin of candy on the counter with mouse droppings in it, and a dead mouse in the toilet. We left immediately. The host was very responsive when contacted. We did not stay and found alternate accommodations. VRBO and the host processed a full refund.

Be careful driveway to get to house is steep and in bad condition. House was musty, and the mattress in master was dirty. Hot tub, outside deck, and firepit was nice. Smaller view of a mountain from deck. Older home and more rustic in condition.

Great location, and only minutes from the classic mountain town of Black Mountain. Great stores and restaurants.Also it is only 15 -20 minutes to Lookout Mountain and Catawba Falls. We also enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit after a day of hiking.

Black MTN GETAWAY

We have stayed at various locations in western NC for 10 years running. Many were nice, but this cabin stands alone. Great location, fully equipped, convenient to shopping and restaurants and hiking. Looking forward to next year.

Private respite

We stayed while our Black Mountain home was closing. The surroundings - woods, mountains - were perfection. We just needed to relax and the cottage - extremely cozy with a full kitchen, leather furniture we melted in, comfortable beds, updated bathroom - satisfied our wants. I had to work remotely and never experienced an internet issue. Ingles and all shopping were minutes away, so although you feel isolated, activity is within reach.Also, our dog loved exploring the area. We had to extend our stay twice and Gerald was most agreeable.If we ever visit again, the cottage will be our first choice.

Perfect long weekend

We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful little house. We loved looking at the stars from the hot tub, playing games, eating breakfast out on the deck, and eating at many of the wonderful local restaurants (Ole Guacamole and Blue Ridge Biscuit Kitchen were amazing!) There are so many pretty parks and ways to enjoy nature as a family. We hope to return ASAP, highly highly recommend!

This was a perfect place for us to stay for a quick weekend in Black Mountain The house was so clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. Our hosts were responsive and we so appreciate how they welcomed our dogs as guests as well! We will definitely be back!

Hideaway Has My Heart

This has been one of my best VRBO experiences! The location was perfect to Black Mountain and convenient to so many trails, etc. A perfect little cabin in the woods. Will definitely be back for more stays....already looking at the calendar!

Left early

Floors dirty. And house dirty except for shower toilet Pillows old etc Sink in kitchen leaking and out onto the floor. Bucket under pipe catching water and over flowed. Which we cleaned up. Had soaked into wood cabinet and floor. We had not used the sink. Turned water valve off This was day 1. Called owner.. Owner aware of leak. Plumber could not come until Saturday. We left on day 2 . Checday

We've been happily married for 54 years, and have enjoyed traveling around the country in our camping van for the past 15 years, since retiring from our hectic careers. We were so often drawn back to the Black Mountain / Asheville area, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, that we finally realized we needed to own a little piece of it. Finding, restoring, and updating our little 'Black Mountain Hideaway' has been a dream come true. We love this cozy, romantic little place so much that we've decided to share it with others when we can't be here. Our wish is for you to enjoy this tranquil home and wonderful area as much as we do.

Update: In 2019, we built our second rental, Bluebird Hideaway, listing # 1684195, just downhill from Black Mountain Hideaway. It is a lovely cape cod style home that sits on it's own 1+ private acres.

We chose Black Mountain because no matter where you look, you are surrounded by these beautiful mountains, and each season has its own special appeal. The local people always have a welcoming smile for you. Most of the shops and restaurants are pet friendly, and often have water bowls and dog treats handy. There is a wonderful variety of activities and entertainment venues in this area. Fantastic outdoor life all seasons.

We love returning to this quiet, cozy cabin after a busy day of shopping or sightseeing for a relaxed evening in front of the fireplace, or by the outdoor firepit. Even a lazy day at home is a treat. Some of our favorite Black Mountain restaurants are 'My Father's Pizza' for the best crust we've ever had, 'Ole Quacamole's' for their authentic Mexican meals, and the 'Veranda Cafe' for their fantastic homemade soups and sandwiches. We often enjoy afternoon coffee at the 'Dripolator', or yummy treats at the 'Black Mountain Bakery'. All of these favorites have cozy outdoor dining as well.
