While the home itself was nice, I could tell it hadn’t been serviced for cleaning prior to my check in. The communication with the host was subpar. After booking, prior to check-in, the host & I made an agreement through the app that she’d not book for Thanksgiving (day on my check out) & that I’d extend my reservation for the holiday. She happily agreed. The night prior, I contacted her & indicated that I was ready. She sent me a very short response saying she’s coming back to AZ & we need to be out the next morning at 10am. Very surprised & full of anxiety (she knows vrbo doesnt do same day bookings), I asked what happened? She said she’d sent me a email stating the same thing the day before & provided a ss of that email, in which she misspelled my email & I NEVER received it. I indicated to her how horrible of a position that put my family in. We ordered an ENTIRE Thanksgiving dinner from Cracker Barrel & made no plans for another place, everything was booked on other platforms, & hindered by vrbo’s same day policy on this one. In short, she NEVER did come back, my family ended up spending all day Thanksgiving in a vehicle with a cold dinner, trying to find a last min hotel vacancy, finally finding one an hour away at 8pm, & eating Thanksgiving dinner at the closest open restaurant.
