We decided some time ago our next adventure in life would be to own a beach house vacation rental. We came to this decision after visiting a quaint beach vacation rental on the coast of Georgia. The owner had six units which he personally oversaw living in the upstairs quarters (which we now do here at The Carolina Beach House... read more!). His kitchen served as his work station and greeting area. After visited him we came to the conclusion... why could we not do something similar? So we undertook the hard but fun work of researching what it would take to run an "Inn". Providing food service is something we did not want to undertake. So not a bed and breakfast, but rather a simple clean, comfortable, and safe guest house type accommodation. Next was the process of visiting the various towns and beaches lining the North Carolina Coast. Having our real estate licences in the state of NC fortunately kept our reach just to this wonderful state. We fell more and more in love with Carolina Beach with each visit. Then a matter of finding the perfect property. Something manageable, but yet viable to be a full time career for the two of us. What was formerly "Alexander's Hideaway" found us that magical once in a lifetime opportunity! Having survived five major named hurricanes during nearly 100 years of existence this wonderful injured beach house was in need of extensive love and care. Upon your visit the before and after pictures will truly show you the story. New metal roof to replace the dying multi-layered shingled aged roof, leaking wood windows replaced with new low-E vinyl efficiency windows, new furniture, new appliances, freshly painted inside and out, fresh look to the block construction foundation walls to include a colorful concrete sealer, reconstructed decks to support the weight of any number of guests... the list goes on! We're so pleased with the work put into our beach house by all involved. We look forward to meeting you!

Specifically this property... the beach house is actually a very versatile duplex. We briefly considered a larger property - more of a hotel type feel, but concluded it would be too overwhelming for just the two of us. The Town of Carolina Beach and New Hanover County recognize the property as a duplex. Reason for that is the two side by side units 1st floor (bottom floor) have an adjoining door. It's continuous living space, so the two spaces could be shared. And the large second floor has an adjoining door to the small third floor flat. So with this comes as many as three separate living accommodations to rent as vacation rentals. Although a daunting task to start with all of the necessary renovations, we felt once complete the beach house would be within our ability to maintain and entertain the number of people who could visit with us at any one time. The lower right accommodation is perfect for a couple and perhaps a child or two. One bedroom and a Day Bed with Trundle in the family room. This quaint and quirky "D space", titled "The Seahorse", features a seahorse theme and a 3/4 tall bedroom door with top portion of the opening closed with swag curtains. Has a full kitchen as do all the other vacation accommodations. Open Dining and Family Rooms with wonderful views of the back yard. Private seating covered patio out back and of course access the private boardwalk. The "C" space, titled "The Sand Dollar", next door is a mirror image of the Seahorse with the exception of not having the additional Dining area rather has a second bedroom... sleeps up to six (has pull out sleeper sofa in Family Room). Then there is this 'B" 2nd floor accommodation "The Anchor" being featured here with this listing! With a full sized kitchen, ocean views from all bedrooms truly serves as our anchor for this beach house. So having the vision and what the prospects could come of this endeavor we dove right in!

Positioned OCEAN FRONT, nearest the ocean than the more recent construction required to meet certain setbacks from the ocean front... gives way to the best views pier to pier (up and down the island)! Once you enter the front door with the incredible views of the beach and ocean whatever stress you may have had will drain from every fiber in your body. You won't want to leave. Don't believe us?
