Because we believe in transparency about what we expect from our guests, we ask that you read our house rules before your stay.

You are welcome guests in our home, and we want you to feel at home, but please treat our home with respect.

Please don`t remove anything from the house.
(We take a picture inventory before and after each reservation, and we don`t want to have to charge you for any missing items!)

Please don`t use our bath towels to clean up spills, remove makeup, sunscreen, or oils, or wipe dirty feet, etc.
Face towels and washcloths are provided, and cleaning towels can be found in the kitchen and laundry room.

Sand is our enemy!
Please use the hose in the carport to wash sand off feet and legs before entering the home, and avoid getting sunscreen, oil, or sand on furniture or bedding.
(Sunscreen and oils stain our bedding, towels, and furniture, and sand gets everywhere and hurts our shower pipes and septic system.)

Costa Rican septic systems are fragile; don`t put ANY paper products (including toilet paper), wipes, tissues, or hygiene products in the toilets (not even products labeled `flushable`). Dispose of them in the trash bin next to the toilet.

We are proud to be part of an eco-friendly and energy-efficient country. Please help us conserve energy by keeping the front door, sliding glass doors, and windows closed when the AC is on so the cool air doesn’t get wasted.

Be kind and help us save on a huge electric bill by turning off the A/C, lights, and coffee pot whenever you leave the house, but leave the fans on to circulate air.
(There is no reason to leave the A/C running when no one is home.)

Please don’t let trash pile up within our home. Bag the trash, seal the bag, and place it in the trash bin.
(Food waste, fish waste, and leftovers can be bagged and put in the freezer for the housekeeper to collect when she comes to clean, so that they don’t start to smell.)

Don`t pour grease down the drains. After cooking, let the grease cool, and then scrape it into a plastic bag or container and put it in the freezer.

Dirty dishes, crumbs, or any food left out and unprotected attract insects and other pests. Be sure to wash dishes, wipe down kitchen counters, and sweep up crumbs after meals to prevent pests.
(Trust us when we say that you`ll be glad you did.)

Please don`t smoke or vape inside our home. You may smoke in the carport, away from the front door or bedroom windows, but please pick up cigarette butts and dispose of them properly.

NO drug use of any kind is allowed on our property.

***NOTE: for the security of our home, our guests` safety, and the security of their vehicles, our carport is monitored by 24-hour security cameras. The cameras can not see into the home, but they CAN see people going in and out of the carport.

We want you to have a comfortable stay, so please let us know right away if you need anything or if something in the home needs attention, so we can get it fixed or replaced at your convenience. (It`s terribly frustrating to find out about an issue in a review.)

We understand that accidents can happen, so we respectfully ask that you let us know if anything is broken or damaged during your stay so we can replace or repair it before the next visitors arrive.
