Have no doubts about it, Larry ran this like a business from the first interaction until the last. Sadly, communication was lacking during our stay. I am going to be specific.
We were looking at two properties he had listed. One property was $20 cheaper per day and we wanted to know what the differences were. He said "None" and promptly increased the price. After requesting he honor the original price as a "Thanks for telling me", he was only willing to lower the price by $10.
We also asked if the kitchens were stocked the same at both properties and he indicated he kept his kitchens well stocked. This couldn't be further from the truth. For example, the oven had one rack.
Upon arrival we had to reach out to Larry to find out how to gain access. We were accustomed to this being provided ahead of time.
The property needs a lot of TLC. Examples, the kitchen door had a towel for a curtain. The sliding door had no curtains. The master bathroom window was about to fall out and could not be locked. Several windows were very difficult to lock. The first floor bathroom didn't have a toilet paper holder and the tub didn't drain well. The kitchen sink sprayer leaked when running the water. There was an animal in one of the walls and I killed a cockroach. The bathrooms need better towels and places to hang them. The yard had empty paint cans and other construction junk.
For an experienced, multi-property owner, Larry provided no information about the property or area onsite. For example, we had to find the WiFi password under the router, after finding the router. We expected "the welcome book" like we have had at every other short-term rental property we have stayed at.
Back to communication. Arabi was hit by an EF3 tornado the third evening (7:30pm) of our stay. The path was a block and a half from the property. Larry NEVER reached out. I reached out in the morning and he replied. Since the power was out I asked if he had heard an ETA. No response. I asked if he had another property with power. No response. I let him know we chose to relocate. No response. I reached out a week later and all Larry offered was a credit for a future stay. We passed.
