We loved staying at Nile Lodge! We were a family - two couples and one child (2 yr old) - so it was more space than we needed, but we're so glad we got the opportunity to experience the place, and "experience" really is the right word. It's a historic property, originally built in the early 1800s, and the walls of the main hallway are lined with the wills of the family through the generations, passing the house down. There's beautiful antique furniture, glassware, and Irish dishware all over the house, but despite the history it still feels homey and welcoming. Bathrooms are updated, beds are comfortable, kitchen is spacious, there's a washer and dryer, lots of yard space, and beautiful fireplaces in every room. Maire, our host, was great - she had coffee, tea, and pastries waiting for us, milk, butter, and clotted cream in the fridge, and had one of the bedrooms and bathrooms all set up for our little one. She spent an hour, at least, telling us all about the history of the house and explaining how everything worked. We hope we can find an excuse to come back to Galway so we can stay here again! If you want new and modern, maybe this isn't the property for you, but if you're in the mood to try a rental you'll remember, I highly recommend Nile Lodge.
