This beautifully maintained home has a welcoming personality, show-stopper living room window, mini professional kitchen that’s a joy to cook in, and cozy bedrooms with one north aspect so they stay cooler and darker than the rest of the house. Have been staying in rental properties a few times a year since 2011, and after many visits to Mountain View I can say this is heads and shoulders above all the others. John and Jim’s professional hospitality shines in its consistency, charm, and taste. Country/mountain lodge feel, yet 5 mins to downtown Easthampton and 15 to the center of Northampton.

We really enjoyed our stay! The home was cozy, very roomy, with plenty of room for good times with family. We particularly enjoyed the open feeling and big picture window looking out on the grounds. The hosts were so nice and take great pride in their lovely home. We would definitely try to stay here again on our next visit to the area.

Great location. Beautiful spot.

The house has a warm, rustic feel. The units are separated enough to provide privacy and quiet. The kitchen is very well stocked and set up. The owners couldn’t be nicer. We liked it so much we already booked for next year.

Hidden Gem

Our only regret was that we didn’t find this serene property until graduation time, otherwise we would have stayed here every time we visited our daughter in Northampton. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The outdoor property is gorgeous and full of wild life. The interior is very comfortable and tasteful Lou done.

Mountain View Retreat

My husband and I have stayed at Mountain View many times and always look forward to it and disappointed when there is not an opening when we want to visit Northampton. It is comfortable, a conveniently located, private, spacious, and quiet. If you enjoy large windows with views of the MA mountains, this is the place for you.

A Hidden Sanctuary

The expansive view of this lodging was an unexpected surprise as was the warmth of the inviting kitchen and the book laden living room. There is a food co-op close by and downtown Northampton is not far away. The host was gracious and helpful and knowing that he was one floor below was a comfort to this solo traveler. If you want privacy, quiet, and peace, this location has it all.

This was a very pleasant stay in the upper (ground level) floor of a small house right between Northampton and Easthampton. There is a view of a wide expanse of lawn bordered by woods on one side, and a patio with pretty flowers on the other side, and birds all around. John, who lives in the lower level, greeted us. He was very friendly and responded quickly to our phoned questions. Inside, the rooms were somewhat larger than I expected. The living room has nice picture windows and a comfortable, lived-in quality, with books on the shelves and games in a closet. The bathroom is comfortable and I liked the waffley towels. The bedrooms were fine, with lots of closet space. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed. Pay attention when John tells you that some of the kitchen lights are controlled by a dimmer; we forgot and had to rediscover it! There are a washer and dryer in a laundry room accessible from outside on the lower level, with detergent and laundry baskets. The house is older, with nooks and crannies that keep it interesting. Overall, this was a satisfying stay, and I would do it again.

Ideal location

Great getaway place that is off the main road and very quiet but only minutes from food, grocery, dispensaries, whatever you may need. Kitchen has pots, pans utensils and dishwasher. John is immediately responsive to texts. The only cons are the very thin bath towels and shower curtain that doesn’t completely cover the shower. Would definitely stay again

Such a Perfect Spot!

Stayed in Mountainview while my daughter attended a dance workshop for the week. The beds, sheets, and pillows we’re comfortable. We stayed during a very humid heat wave, and the two mini splits in the bedrooms were sufficient to cool off the entire living space. The owners are on site and available for questions, but also gave us privacy and space. They offered vegetables and herbs from their gardens. There are many outdoor seating areas to enjoy. The property is well off the road but easily accessible to the downtown and major routes. I would highly recommend staying here!

Privelege and Peace

Staying at John and Jim's home was a privelege. Quietly located close to everywhere we needed to be., Fairgrounds, fun restaurants, shops, a Food Co-op. The home is spacious, thoughtfully furnished and decorated in a manner that felt personal to our hosts, willing to share with their guests for us to smile, dive in deep, or simply breathe. An inspiring garden, outdoor spaces with mountian views, all add to the sense of calm only nature provides. Cleanliness, quality of linens, attention to detail, and chef supplied kitchen wares all were part of this excellent property. My 14 year old daughter asked if we could come back . We were on the same page, and have booked for next year.

Fun time with kids

This place is very homey and has a great location for a visit to North Hampton and East Hampton area. There were a few minor inconveniences, especially during a very hot and muggy stay. First there is only two air conditioners in the bedroom, which meant that the living area and kitchen were very stifling at times even if you try to use fans to move the cold air from the bedrooms. second, the people sharing the House, did not tell me that the kitchen fan didn’t work, and when I turned it on when I was cooking on multiplications, they were quite invasive into the space. We were renting to tell me how loud it was for them. Again, this is something that should’ve been disclosed before we started because no one wants someone banging their doors or getting in their face about a loud sound that could’ve easily been prevented by telling us not to do it. Finally, the instructions for cleanup and trash, as well as towels, and linens were not quite clear so my suggestion is that they make a booklet with more detailed descriptions of what to do and where to put the trash and recycling.

We didn't know that the range fan was broken (roared like an airplane) until Daniel turned it on. We told Daniel not to use it and ordered a replacement. The air-conditioning ( 2 mini-splits) are quiet and efficient if used properly. No clean-up list as we do the cleaning.

What a magical and peaceful spot. John and Jim’s Mountain View suite was better than I anticipated. From the professional open kitchen and the massive living room window to the art and details, I kept finding a reason to smile. Also, a great dining room if you're traveling with friends.Quick commutes to Cottage Street for shopping, the fab Tip Top Wine Shop and tasty Daily Operations (get the soft serve!). Also close to Mass Audobon Arcadia, where you can loop shady trails for a brief or long hike. Northampton is also a short drive (10 minutes), and a great hotspot for cafes, used bookstores, and plenty of restaurants. Will definitely return for a longer stay!
