Renovated 3BR Family Retreat, Sleeps 8 - Dog-Friendly

The Space

Three comfortable queen bedrooms give everyone their own space to unwind after a day of travel, sightseeing, or hospital visits. The open living area features plush seating, and a flat-screen TV — a great spot to unwind as a group, and we keep board games on hand for a rainy afternoon or a low-key game night in. The fully equipped kitchen has everything you need to cook for the group rather than eat out every meal, with a dining table that seats six.

Location

North Hill puts you close to everything without the downtown price tag. You're roughly a 4-minute drive to the Cuyahoga River, 5 minutes to the University of Akron, and 6 minutes to the Akron Civic Theater — with Akron-Fulton International Airport about 13 minutes away. The neighborhood itself is known locally as Akron's International District, home to a great cluster of Nepali, Bhutanese, and Vietnamese restaurants right along E Cuyahoga Falls Ave, plus the original Swensons Drive-In — Akron's most famous burger stop — just minutes from the door. Downtown Akron, Akron Children's Hospital, and Cleveland Clinic Akron General are all under 5 miles away.

This home is a great fit if you're:

In town for care at Akron Children's Hospital or Cleveland Clinic Akron General, and want a private, comfortable space to decompress between appointments
Running the Akron Marathon or here for a youth sports tournament or Derby Downs event
Visiting the University of Akron for move-in or graduation weekend
Exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park, with trailheads just 15–20 minutes north

Guest Access

You'll have access to the entire home, with simple self check-in via keypad — your code is sent ahead of arrival, so there's no need to coordinate a meet-up.

Pets

We're genuinely dog-friendly, not just pet-tolerant. We welcome small pets for a $100/stay fee (up to 2 dogs); please let us know the type and size before booking. Excessive pet hair beyond normal wear incurs a $200 cleaning fee — we just ask that pets stay off the furniture.

We keep this home clean, comfortable, and ready for your group, and we respond quickly if you need anything during your stay.

Sweet little bungalow. Great for couples or families. If over 6 foot, maybe not the best fit. One member was 6'5" and barely fit up the stairs, but perfect for the rest of us! Very cozy with lots of blankets available for cuddle time! Window AC units worked well. Easy location with Italian food at the end of the street and great donuts a few blocks away. Off street parking was a plus!

The check in process was easy. The house was nice for our family coming in town for a graduation. Carmen was responsive to questions before check in. The house was cozy and clean. Check out instructions were also easy to follow. I have a very sensitive nose and the house had a slight dog smell. Nothing nasty, just the smell that a dog had been there. Overall this house is a great value for the money and very comfortable.

Perfect landing pad for seeing concerts at Blossom and in Cleveland! We especially appreciated the air conditioning given the heat and humidity when we were in town.

We needed a cozy spot on the north side of Akron for our cousin’s wedding and the location was perfect for our needs. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfy. Having off street parking was handy due to a bit of snow. We appreciated that the owner had kept some of the original features and beautiful woodwork of the original home.

We enjoyed our long weekend in this quiet neighborhood house. Loved the Italian grocery just down the street. Location was fairly close to highway for easy access to Cleveland and Cuyahoga Valley NP.

I recently stayed here for my daughter's graduation at Kent State University. The home was decorated so nicely! It was well-equipped with toiletries and had a small coffee bar area. Additionally, there was a wonderful Italian market just a minute's walk from the house. I would definitely recommend this place for a stay.

This house was everything our family needed . We had six adults and two children’s . They took great care to make sure they had little extras to make visiting family a great experience! They had a cute little coffee bar , lots of games for the kids to play. We would recommend this house tucked in a quiet neighborhood for any stay!

The property was just what we needed for our overnight stay. The only issue was the thermostat batteries were dead, it was 11pm when we contacted the host, Carmen replied promptly and Mike followed up with a phone call. We ended up removing batteries from the AC remote and put them in the thermostat. Who would have thought heat would be necessary in August.

Overall it was good. I had trouble getting into house with code. Owner responded quickly. I had a few other questions with no response. No dish cloth for kitchen or dish drainer. We only used two cups and didn’t want to run dishwasher for so little dishes. Instructions for check out via email versus what is on counter have some discrepancies as to where to leave towels and garbage. It would have made the stay nicer if there were chairs on the porch to sit on and if the porch was a little more tidy/clean.

The house is in significant disrepair. Kitchen window is falling off the frame, won’t close or lock. Another 1st floor window only locked at one end, easily pushed open. The latch just won’t catch. Front door locks but the wood is rotted, barely attached. Broken smoke detector. Rusted vent cover falling off the wall. Electrical outlets are poorly installed…etc. We did not feel safe there and left within a few hours. The house was also not super clean and smelled like a dirty dog. I’ve stayed in old houses, I don’t expect everything updated but windows that lock are non negotiable. VRBO was not helpful when we could not reach the host (it was after 10pm). Host finally replied to messages by 2pm the next day and said he would refund only my first night because we should have called at 7pm when the first guest arrived and he would have sent cleaners out. My daughter dropped her bags off at 7, and went to dinner. She was exhausted from driving, so decided to wait for me to deal with the house as I had rented it. How would a cleaning crew make this home safe in a few hours? Replace broken windows? We had to get hotel rooms for 6 people last minute which was a huge expense. Could be a great house with some care and repairs. I’m disappointed at host response.
First thing we saw. Window is off set, broken and won’t close.
Broken latch on the inside of the kitchen window.
Several outlets like this.
moldy shower seal need replaced.
