Welcome to Sunset Mountain Ranch, a breathtaking 5-bedroom retreat nestled in the tranquil foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Set on nearly 18 pristine acres bordering the Santa Fe National Forest, this estate offers the perfect blend of secluded luxury and convenient access—just 7 minutes from Santa Fe’s historic Plaza and Railyard District.

This estate includes a main residence with 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, along with a beautifully appointed 1-bedroom casita for added privacy and flexibility. Whether you're planning a family vacation, small wedding, or wellness retreat, this unique property delivers a serene atmosphere with high-end amenities and space to spread out.

Originally designed by celebrated architect William Lumpkins, the double adobe home exudes timeless Southwestern elegance. Enjoy a newly remodeled chef’s kitchen, cozy living areas with radiant heat, and mini splits for seasonal comfort. The spacious outdoor areas—complete with multiple patios, lounge seating, and a large hot tub spa—offer some of the most awe-inspiring views in all of Santa Fe.

Wander through a rare, flat one-acre meadow behind the home, explore private forest access, or watch the Bishop’s Lodge horses pass by. Endless adventure awaits right from your front door—including direct trail access to Windsor Trail and Ski Santa Fe, all without ever touching a road.

Beautiful home with plenty of room to spread out, & close to town. Our family members really enjoyed the hot tub and the gorgeous views. Lots of hiking opportunities were enjoyed.

This house was absolutely perfect for our group of 5! We were a group of high school best friends all coming together for a reunion from all over the country and this could not have been a more perfect place to stay. Five bedrooms for the 5 of us and they were all outfitted with their own smart TVs and each even had climate control so we could adjust to temp to our own needs! Such a beautiful spot in such an amazing town. HIGHLY recommend!!

Reviewer Comments: We rented Sunset Mountain Ranch to use as the site for a small wellness retreat including yoga, hiking and healthful meals prepared by a private chef. If you are looking for a location to host something similar, with a small group of participants, look no further! The living room is spacious and can be set up for yoga practice for 10 people. The kitchen is perfection and has everything a chef needs. The house is stylish, clean and updated yet with a sense of Santa Fe’s history and charm. Our group was delighted with the views, the sunsets and sunrises, and horses trotting by from time to time. The hot tub, gorgeous meadow, access to amazing hiking trails right from the house, plenty of parking, and incredible support from Santa Fe Vacation Rentals all made it an unforgettable and easeful weekend. We can’t rave enough about this wonderful property!

Relaxation in Santa Fe

It was a week long family vacation, full of sights, hikes and adventures. The New Mexican food was great. The house is located right outside of the plaza area so you have both the beauty of the desert and mountains with lovely sunsets and the convenience of all the amenities of Santa Fe. The house was spectacular with plenty of room with a well equipped kitchen. There are multiple options for outdoor seating. We brought our 2 dogs and there was plenty of room and outside grassy area for them to play. The manager was very responsive to our needs.

Amazing Stay in Santa Fe

The house was just a short drive out of the city but the views at the house were worth it! Views from the porches to the windows are amazing! A lot of thought was put into the placement of this house. Plenty of room for a few families to stay and stretch out. We also enjoyed the outside patio, local trails and the hot tub.
