We (two couples) stayed at Casa Piazzetta in October 2012.
The apartment is very centrally located, a two minute walk to the Duomo, less than ten minutes to Il Campo and about fifteen minutes to Piazza Gramsci. It was centrally located for touring Siena. We found it very convenient to return to our apartment whenever we felt like a rest during the day.
The windows of the apartment look out over the quiet Piazzetta della Selva, across to the Contrada office and the Chiesa di San Sebastiano, and beyond to the Tuscan sunsets. We heard church bells chiming and watched locals and tourists wander past, enjoying the charm of the city.
The apartment is situated in a typical medieval Sienese building. It is up two flights of stairs which have been upgraded to modern standards. Recently renovated, it has two bedrooms (with limited closet space), a compact modern bathroom, and a new kitchen with full cooking facilities, a good-sized fridge, a dishwasher and a clothes washer. The lounge has a comfortable sofa which seats three to four people. The lighting was good. We had more than enough space for all our needs.
Cristina was a very accommodating hostess. She met us outside the city walls, and piled the four of us and all our luggage into her car to take us into the city. She gave us a thorough introduction to the apartment, and told us about some special performances and exhibitions. She encouraged us to phone of email her if we had further questions to ask her. We very much enjoyed the bottle of wine and ricciarelli (a specialty cookie of Siena) that she left for us to enjoy.
This apartment provided an ideal residence for our visit to Siena. We were very comfortable here. If you are fortunate, as we were, you might even see a performance by the contrada drummer and flag throwers in Piazzetta della Selva.
