2000 Sq Ft Craftsman House W/ Huge Backyard next to Park

You will love the vintage charm of our 2000 Sqft historical Craftsman single-family home with details like tin ceiling tiles, hardwood floors, and stained glass windows. It is the perfect place for the family. It sits on a 7500 sqft lot with a fenced-in yard with a pond. The back gate opens up to a park! The park has a basketball court, racketball courts, a play structure, and a soccer field.
The space
The house is located in the "hip" Golden Hill neighborhood and is in a prime location; within walking distance to tons of amazing restaurants and bars, and also Balboa golf course.

This spacious 3BR 2 bath, two-story home includes 10-foot ceilings, stained glass windows, and maple floors throughout. There are large windows in every room that offer plenty of bright, natural light. The large backyard is perfect for entertaining and relaxing by the fire pit. There is a large 2nd-story balcony to enjoy park views from. Enjoy a home-cooked dinner in the formal dining room, dine outside under the stars, or kick off your shoes and enjoy a glass of wine in front of the fireplace. Experience unforgettable evenings with our new 70" outdoor TV, perfect for family movie nights or Sunday football by the firepit. Enjoy the cozy seating, warm glow of the fire, and charming string lights for the ultimate outdoor relaxation.

Other amenities include a shuffleboard table, air hockey table, scooters, stroller, portable crib, high chair, and toys to keep your little ones entertained during your stay. There is also a walk-in closet that has been converted into a playroom with a TV and toys.

Off-street parking behind the home in the alley for three vehicles and electric car charging. Laundry room inside home.Walking distance to Balboa Park, the Zoo, local restaurants (including Juan Jasper wine bar and Kingfisher French/Vietnamese), and just minutes to downtown San Diego & Convention Center.

Other things to note:
The home is near the flight path and you can hear the airplanes. We love to host families in our home. This is not recommended for bachelor parties.

Old architecture with alot of character for sure.... the major draw for us was the outdoor space for our family get together.... we loved it and it fit all of us perfectly (and having a TV outside for the football games was fantastic!) Rooms were clean and supplies were very generous which was much appreciated ! I would recommend for any family that wants to be near downtown or Balboa park for an easy walk.

The host was inattentive & the amenities were not maintained. The dishwasher was a disgusting, foul smelling mess that made us gag when we opened the door. Once we arrived the host was 100% unresponsive. The house was dirty, and the sheets on our bed did not feel fresh. We’re fairly certain that they had not been changed before our arrival because we found a child’s necklace in the bed when we stripped it. The wire connectors were outside the ceiling & not in a box for the dining room chandelier. It is not up to code & could be a fire hazard.

Fun place to stay!

We had a great time staying here. The house is very charming and they preserved as much as they could to keep it looking and feeling historic while keeping the house technologically connected (smart tvs, wifi, etc.) We had our small dog with us and LOVED how accessible the park was and how walkable the neighborhood is. The house is centrally located and we were able to get any where we wanted, quickly, without being right next to a freeway or busy streets. We ate locally every day and supported the neighborhood market on the corner multiple times. The property owner was super friendly and accessible when we had questions. It was only four of us but this house could easily accommodate a bigger group.

Charming house near the park

We had a lovely stay at this house near the park. The house was well equipped with a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of amenities throughout the home. We enjoyed the fireplace in the backyard. It is a older home so there were some things we weren't used to, such as loud pipes and a older oven that made the house a little smokey. But the charm of the house made up for these minor inconveniences.

The house itself is very charming and a perfect example of an Arts & Crafts design & architecture with a lot of the original design elements still visible, we loved that aspect. The location is perfect for the Zoo, Balboa Park & Hwy access. The neighborhood is very quiet and feels safe. The care and tidiness of the house & property should be addressed. Although most of the beds had clean sheets, two of them did not as evidenced by “sand” in them. Some of the dishes were not clean and needed to be washed. The freezer needs to be de-iced and cleaned. There was laundry still in the dryer that was not put away. We had to search upstairs for linens and the linen closet was very disorganized. There are enough actual beds for 8 people. We used a fold out mat we found under the bunk bed for one of our daughters to sleep on but had to find the linens. There was a lot of various items under the bed when we pulled out the fold out mat: socks, trash, toys, etc. The WiFi never worked which was a hassle but we weren’t at the house for very long stretches so we didn’t need it. I did not contact the host bc frankly I didn’t want to bother with it. I never had any contact with the host. All the instructions I received were directly through VRBO. The location is unbeatable especially for the price! Overall our stay was fine, mostly I was sad to see such a great house so poorly kept but to each his own.
