This was an absolute disaster from beginning to end. First we contacted the property owner a week before our trip asking if we could bring a small cargo trailer so we could carry our kayaks and such, she responded with a yes stating we could use an unmarked spot to park it. Fast forward to the day of our reservation, we pull in and the first thing we see are signs stating there is no trailers allowed and violators would be towed. Also on the day of arrival we were supposed to be able to check in at 3, we weren’t there yet, but still had no instructions on how to enter the property, ok no big deal we aren’t there I’ll just message the owner. Messaged without response, at 4pm we are close to the property so I call, she states she’ll send the access code right away, 4:45 no code still. So we make a short stop to pick stuff up to give more time. When we are done, no call so I call, no answer, then as I hang up I get a message finally with the code.
When we access the property we feel we’ve entered into someone else staying because there is trash, dirty dishes and stuff every where. So, I call the owner, she tries to say we are at the wrong property, ummmm no no we aren’t! Then she Proceeds to ask if we checked to see if someone’s personal items were there, again no I did not! So, I just go in and let me tell ya there was trash everywhere, beds unmade, dirty kitchen and bathrooms. So, the place hadn’t been cleaned. The owner then Proceeds to tell me how this isn’t her fault! Well it sure isn’t mine!
She then tells me the cleaning crew can be there in 5 minutes. Well at this point it’s 5:15, and we were supposed to be able to check in at 3! Also, with Covid going on I don’t want a half way clean condo where others have stayed and I’ve seen how nasty it is. So we decide we just aren’t dealing with this and want a refund, while the entire time she’s telling me this is NOT her fault!!
Thank God for VRBO they were absolutely amazing! They got our money back, paid for a nights stay somewhere else since you can’t same day book, and got a complaint started for us! I was so grateful to have them go above and beyond and Richie was amazing to work with!! Thank you VRBO for all your help, we will for sure book through you again, but NOT with this property!
