Welcome to your peaceful escape, tucked away in a secluded wing of a charming 1910 farmhouse. Under The Hemlocks is a scent-sensitive, open-plan studio suite thoughtfully designed for comfort and serenity.
Whether you’re seeking an ideal, restful weekend getaway, a visit to the Five Colleges, or a welcoming place to recharge after a long business day, this curated space offers both privacy and warmth.
Every detail has been considered to create a tranquil haven where you can relax, recharge, and unwind.

Luxurious Bed: Experience ultimate comfort with high-quality bed linens and premium pillows on a queen-sized bed with adjustable head settings for a dreamy night's sleep.
For added comfort you'll find blackout blinds and individually controlled heating and air conditioning, plus a tower fan.

Space-saving Chair/Bed Combination: These chairs ingeniously transform into the most comfortable daybed imaginable. During the day, you can sink into this cosy spot for relaxation, while at night, the bespoke mattress provides a snug and restful sleep.
**Please note, there’s an additional fee of $40 per stay for use of the secondary bed.
And please be mindful that my bijou space becomes a little smaller when adding this option. This sleeping area is not separate from the main sleeping space; there are no separate bedrooms or partitions.

In this cosy outdoor space, you have the perfect setting to indulge in a good book or, perhaps, write one of your own.
** Please be mindful that while you are enjoying the seclusion of this retreat, you may occasionally hear the noises of the host's dog or grandchildren playing outside.

Under The Hemlocks is accessed by its own dedicated driveway leading to guest parking. Along the well-lit gravel path, you'll find a private guest only custom designed courtyard.
Up three steps the custom deck leads to the studio guest suite located in a private wing of the hosts farmhouse.

Interacton with guests:
I typically only interact with guests during check-in, so you’ll have plenty of privacy throughout your stay. However, I’m always happy to answer any questions or address any concerns before or during your booking. During your stay, I’ll send one message just to check that you’re settling in well.

If the suite isn’t as expected, or if you have any questions after arrival, please contact me through the Vrbo app messenger as soon as possible so I can address any issues immediately.

• Under The Hemlocks is nestled in a cosy, wooded residential neighbourhood. Whilst I've curated a zen-like retreat, it's important to remember that my home is also on the property. This means that occasionally, you might hear the joyful sounds of our daily life. These could range from our dog's occasional bark, the laughter of my grandkids playing, or simply the hum of our day-to-day activities.
~Please note, sounds from the neighbourhood, such as DIY projects, lawn maintenance, snow removal or delivery vans, are beyond my control.

• NO Smoking ~ ANY Evidence of smoking anywhere on the property will result in an additional $150 charge

• Space-Saving Chair/Bed Combination seating area that converts into a European small double bed.
Should you require the second bed, an additional charge of $40 per stay will apply.
**Please note: My Bijou space is an open-plan studio. The secondary bed option makes the space a little smaller, and this sleeping area is not separate from the main sleeping space. There are no separate bedrooms or partitions.

• My space isn't outfitted with child safety measures such as safety gates or child-proof locks. Moreover, my safety guidelines restrict me from adding additional cribs or beds. This makes it unsuitable for babies or children under 12.

• During winter, the outdoor kitchen is limited to the use of the worktop only, as the sink and water supply are shut down to prevent freezing.
The Writer's Retreat seasonal sunrm/screened-in off-grid space is open May to October, weather permitting.

• Nestled among the Hemlocks, the guest suite is a part of the vibrant woodland ecosystem. Despite regular treatments, you might occasionally encounter a few insects. And don't be surprised if you spot a bear, fox, or possum - they're part of the neighbourhood too!

• Please be aware that any damage caused during your stay will be your responsibility. I kindly ask you to treat the property with care. In the unfortunate event of any damage, the cost of repair or replacement will be billed to you accordingly.

Under The Hemlocks is located in a quiet historic wooded area in Pelham Hills, only minutes from birthplace and home of the poet Emily Dickinson, UMass and Amherst College.

The Guest Suite is tucked under a thicket of hemlock trees on a beautiful tree-lined road.
You'll find Harkness conservation area, a beautiful walk through the woods.
Harkness Rd is roughly 2 miles long, half of the road is in Pelham and the other in Amherst.

Though surrounded by woods you're only minutes from the many shops and restaurants in Hadley. Northampton a bridge away, over the Connecticut River.

A short drive away, an amazing view point of the Quabbin Reservoir. The largest inland body of water in Massachusetts.
