We had a really terrific time here. Sooooo relaxing. The house is just very comfortable, very well maintained and Jean has thought of everything. Great beds, bathrooms and comfy sofas. It's very close to the beach and to the two main grocery stores and restaurants. We went nearly everywhere on the cycles which were in the house.
Each morning, we'd have a dip in the downstairs pool, take breakfast on the screened porch, walk along the beach, watch the dolphins playing and the brown pelicans fishing, and just sometimes interrupt this leisurely snails' pace schedule to make a plan. A Captiva cruise to the Edison Ford estate was well worthwhile. But the Ding Darling reserve was our favourite. The white pelicans were still there. Amazing!
Most of the local restaurants don't do what we think of as cooking, (it's more a production line of burgers, salads, pizza, salads, grilled or fried fish often very carelessly presented) but the Mad Hatter and Sweet Melissa both served imaginative, well sourced real cuisine with some flair.
Our thanks again to Jean and Wil for a wonderful month in the sunshine!
