Welcome to Backcountry Lookout, where you can experience the ultimate Montana getaway in a secluded, one-bedroom hideaway, nestled on a 9,000 ft ridge overlooking Beehive Basin, where the unparalleled views of Lone Peak Mountain, The Sphinx, Fan Mountain, and Beehive Basin create a backdrop unlike anything you'll find in Big Sky. This is the true Montana experience—wild, breathtaking, and completely unforgettable. The entire side of the home facing the mountains is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing you to fully immerse in the stunning views from every angle—whether you’re in the bedroom, living area, or kitchen. Wake up to unforgettable sunrises over Lone Peak and experience starry nights like never before. During certain times of the year, you may even be treated to the spectacular sight of the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. Secluded in its own private paradise, surrounded by national forest land, this retreat provides the perfect getaway for those seeking peace and tranquility, with plenty of wildlife, including a family of bighorn sheep, foxes, and the occasional visit from larger animals. Sleeping up to 4 guests with a cozy pull-out sofa, this tiny home offers a comfortable and intimate setting. Absolutely stunning! The views cant be beat! The house is situated in a perfect spot at the edge of an alpine meadow. Lots of wildlife. If you are looking for the perfect backcountry cabin this is it. We loved the easy access to the beehive basin trail system. Nice large porch to sit on and enjoy the freah air.

We are not exaggerating when we say this is breathtaking. You can sit on your couch and watch the sunset. Lay in the bed and watch the sunrise. Stars you feel like you can touch. Animals you see from the windows Don’t be cocky and think you can get there without following the owners directions like we did!! :)

Would not stay here again. We stayed here for 7 days and were disappointed. Winter access to the home is more difficult than the listing suggested. While the listing does mention 4WD, snow tires, it does not adequately convey how extreme the road is. The road is very steep, narrow, and full of tight hairpin turns. During a storm, access became dependent on plowing, and we had to go into town and have chains installed on our vehicle just to get back to the property. Without plowing, the house was effectively very difficult to access. The property manager was not proactive or helpful when access to the property during the storm became an issue. We asked ahead of the storm about plowing and when the road would be accessible, but did not hear back from them despite calling and messaging on the VRBO app. As conditions worsened, we again reached out because we were concerned about safely getting back to the house, and no practical solution was offered. We were ultimately told they had no plow schedule and no relationship with the plow providers. They provided no additional support or follow up.We also reached out to the property manager by phone twice and via the app when we found a water leak on arrival, and it took 18 hours before anyone followed up. The property is labeled on VRBO as ski-in/ski-out. It is not ski in/ski off for Big Sky Resort. There is a backcountry ski trail into avalanche terrain behind the house only. This is a tiny house, little space for skis.

Great potential and a peaceful location but we did have some issues. The mountain and sunset views from inside the home are mostly blocked by pine trees. The shower handle is in a very inconvenient place! We had a small ant problem inside the home and the fire alarms would randomly turn on at night and wake us up. Other customers should know that a 4x4 is suggested to get to the home. The drive to the home is about 20-25 minutes from Big Sky Town center. Also, understand that it is a "tiny home" and there is not much room for luggage or to unpack.
