The hosts were very communicative and welcoming before, during, and after our stay. The front yard was well lit, and good for taking our pups out at night. I was grateful to find somewhere available over Christmas that accepted two dogs. The kitchen was well-equipped and reasonably clean. This is a pet-friendy rental near the beach, the overall cleanliness of the unit was perhaps reflective of that. The house is right off of a busy road in a neighborhood with varied levels of upkeep.

We went to the beach for a girls, family, long Labor Day weekend. Location was close to a BEAUTIFUL beach, that was sparsely used for the holiday weekend. The beach access was across the road, and the road was very busy and loud at times, but there was a light and crosswalk nearby. There was a nice park, basically next door, and we very much enjoyed the Saturday farmers market. Front porch was nice and we enjoyed sitting out there every evening, but had to drag dining room chairs in and out to do so. Off street parking was nice, plenty of room for two cars, three if you are good at tight turn arounds. The two full size beds downstairs were comfortable, the four twin beds upstairs were good too. The spiral staircase is very steep & narrow, but navigable for those without any mobility issues. Cute kitchen with nice appliances, laundry on site was nice. Our only really big complaint was that the house desperately needed a deep cleaning, which we assume was from alot of use over the summer, but still, it was not clean and grossed everyone out. The back yard was also in desperate need of attention, it was cluttered and had leaves built up, junk in piles, etc. We spent the first few hours cleaning the house, which we should not have needed to do. However, we did let the owners know and they apologized stating they have the house deep cleaned quarterly, which is not often enough. Its a good location and a cute house, if deep cleaned regularly we would rent again.

Great for our very busy boys--right across the street from the beach, 3 min walk to a very clean, fun park. Quick drive to stores. Easy to get in/out of the house, plently of comfy beds and amenities.

Great Beach Stay

Overall, our stay was wonderful! The house and walk to the beach were perfect for the 3 adults and 2 small kids. The neighborhood was fine and there was plenty of grocery stores or restaurants to choose from. VA Beach was only 25-30 minutes away so we could enjoy the shops and attractions there as well. However, I was MOST impressed with the communication with the owners! SO very responsive and available to us before and during our stay. SO welcoming and appreciative. Thanks for letting us stay - great experience!

We enjoyed our time in Norfolk! The cottage was a short walk to the beach where we spent most of our time. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The hosts were available to answer any questions we had. The upstairs area was a great place for our 3 children to spend some time relaxing.

Weekend getaway

The house was just the right size for 6 women ranging in ages 13-73. One bathroom was fine for all of us. The rooms were of good size and the fridge could fit so much food. Definitely would stay here again.

Wunderschöne Familienzeit

Klare Empfehlung für eine Familie. Sauber, geräumig, modern und komfortabel. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön und zum Strand waren es ca. 3 Min. zu Fuß. Einzige Anmerkung: Der Hinterhof könnte etwas gemütlicher gestaltet sein, so dass man gut zu 6. sitzen kann. Es könnte draußen etwas gepflegter sein. Aber es ist trotzdem eine wunderschöne Zeit gewesen. Wir würden wiederkommen. Vielen Dank für alles!!!!

4th of July Family Vacation

We have stayed at this same location four out of the past five years and have a great vacation every time! The location is great, a couple of minutes walk to the beach, cool loft area for the kids to hang out, extra bedroom for the mother-in-law and full kitchen. The owners have great communication and are very helpful. We would definitely recommend this location!

Good rental as a ‘landing place’

My family enjoyed our stay in this home. There was space enough for everyone but yes, one bathroom. The laundry was appreciated. The kitchen was adequate and we didn’t have problems with electricity or WiFi. Thank-you!It is an older home, refurbished to be a rental. The backyard really is just for parking only, as the neighbors are quite messy and the tree drops a lot of debris.The location is not beachfront but is easily walkable, crossing the busy street at the corner, less than 5 minutes. There are a few little eateries but no nice dining restaurants, so we viewed this rental as our ‘landing place’ for the beach access and then would drive closer to town for restaurants and groceries.

Great weekend get away

To honor my elderly mothers request to go to the beach for a weekend, I looked for a small house that wasn't too expensive and where everything was on one floor. The cottage met our requirements. The cottage was clean, had ample towels, and the beds were comfortable. The check-in and out was very easy. The owners were very kind and pleasant to work with. We had a wonderful visit.

If you’re reading this, I would recommend staying somewhere else. On the plus side you’re close to the beach and they’re pet friendly. On the downside, the house was dirty when we got there. Exploded beer was left in the freezer so there was beer all over the ice and walls inside. The floors were dirty and gritty and there was a pink film in the shower. The Wi-Fi needed to be reset over a dozen times. Finally the cable company came out and said that the router was bad, so hopefully that has been fixed. You can’t sit outside due to mosquitoes and traffic noise. The day before the last day of our trip our mother in law saw a mouse in her bedroom. When we told the owner about the issues she was very apologetic, but her solution was to refund 5% of a 2000 stay. The place is very old and is in need of updating. We are easy going couple but when you spend as much as we did the basics like a clean place to stay and working Wi-Fi should be the minimum.

My Norfolk Cottage Getaway

I rented this cottage for a long weekend in Norfolk to visit with my family, who live down in that area. It was a great weekend. The house was really nice, Clean and comfortable, although outside left a little to be desired. The back was full of leaf droppings from the many trees, but once we swept it up, it was better. The location was wonderful! It is close to a park and only a couple minutes walk to the beach. Check-in could not have been any easier. And the owners were very friendly and extremely responsive to any question I had. I would definitely rent again.

Everything was good but

Everything was great for the 3days we spent, the beach was great! and the kids loved it. The house was very clean but could use plug inns just for that lovely scent. The only problem with my stay was that I could not watch tv for 3 days that was disappointing I even followed all the steps to get it working but could not, after about 3 hours trying to get it to work properly I gave up and try to reach the owner and got no response on how to get it working . But my stay was awesome and the host was very polite.

Quaint and cozy

The location was great - nice city park next to the location has small farmers market scheduled first Saturday of the month. Perfect timing of our arrival. Beach is a walkable distance. Host are very communicative on the preparation of our arrival and was able to address few area of concern, not a dealbreaker- overall was a nice and comfortable stay and good location- 10-15 min from ORF. Recommend to try Jessy’s taqueria!

Cute & comfy place that was perfect for my kids, husband & I. We went to a concert & Ive never stayed in this part of Norfolk. Great location & exactly what we were looking for!

Amazing place

This was the second time I've stayed at this property. The owners are very friendly and open with communication. The check in process was very easy and there is a binder with locations of nearby restaurants as well as hospitals in case of emergency. The home is absolutely beautiful and spacious located right across the street from the beach and a park down the block. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a beach vacation

Old House

Our stay was fine. The road is busy and there's a lot of road noise. The house is old and walls and windows don't conceal much sound. Many outlets are just two prong. The thermostat was set by default to 62, even though we changed it upon arrival, so we woke up freezing in the night. The glass table in the living room is a huge hazard as it regularly moves off the legs. The single trash bag provided was cheap and ripped instantly. We would have loved a cozy throw blanket and a plug for the tub so my kids could take a bath. Many pillows were old and lacked protectors. The beach and park were lovely and the reason we chose the house. The location was perfect in that regard, but we didn't feel safe letting our kids play outside alone. The updated kitchen was nice and we appreciated the cable TV and the towels offered. My kids enjoyed the extra little toys in their room. The host was kind and check in and out were both easy. Ultimately, it was fine and nice to have a place so close to the beach and park, but I wouldn't recommend the house.
