Relaxing Guesthouse with Decks and Panoramic Views
This Amish-built cottage studio is an elegant, peaceful retreat overlooking wooded hills. Designed for maximum efficiency, the interior has sleeping and seating areas plus a kitchen and bathroom. You'll wake to birdsong and fall asleep under the stars. Sip morning coffee on the porch or grill up a BBQ and dine al fresco on the back deck. Whether you're staying for work, a wedding, visiting family, en route, or need a break from city living, this guest house is your perfect home away from home.
Situated on a gentle ridge overlooking fields of native tall grasses and wooded hills beyond, this immaculately appointed cottage is part of a larger estate designed by your host, Justine, and built by the Amish in the traditional board-and-batten style.
Entrance to the cottage is through the east-facing covered porch that's perfect for enjoying your cup of coffee in the morning sun. Sit back in the mid-century modern deck chairs and enjoy the hummingbirds and butterflies that flutter around the perennials and herbs planted in front.
Once inside, you'll step into the warm and elegant wood-paneled interior. To the left is the sleeping area with a comfortable double bed, beyond which a sliding patio door leads to the sun-drenched back deck with table, chairs, and sun umbrella where you can enjoy lunch and dinner while gazing out over the hills beyond.
The sleeping area also has clothing storage, including a rack with hangers and a chest of drawers.
The seating area features a large contemporary day bed with cushions, throw blankets, coffee table and reading lights.
The fully stocked kitchen has everything you need:
- coffee maker
- microwave
- electric hotplate with two rings
- water filter pitcher
- pots, pans, utensils and kitchen knives
- silverware, plates, bowls, and assorted glasses
- mini fridge with small freezer section
- cleaning supplies, kitchen towel, dish cloths.
The kitchen island doubles as a dining counter with two Japanese style bar stools.
The bathroom features a shower unit, toilet and basin and comes with fresh towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
The cottage has a portable air-conditioning unit, overhead ceiling fan, and oscillating table fan for your comfort during the warmer months, and electric baseboard heat for the cooler months.
The cottage is situated near to the host's main home. She will endeavor to provide you with as much privacy as possible during your stay. Helping to facilitate that are privacy blinds on every window, and blackout drapes in front of the sliding patio doors.

For guests arriving after dark, porch lights will help guide your path from the driveway.
